Description

This is the original deep groove RVG etched “P”-pressing of “Sonny Rollins” on the Lexington Ave. labels of Blue Note BLP 1542.  The hybrid rim playing surface is virtually in new condition, with a beautiful luster; perhaps played once.  (“hybrid” refers to a flat rim that has a rounded, not flat, edge.  It is not a beaded rim.)  The coated frame West 63rd St. cover is in remarkable condition – bright and clean throughout, with just small writing at the top left corner of the back slick; slight rubbing/recoloring on the seams; 1 7/8” scratch near the top of the opening, on the front.  Personnel include Donald Byrd, Wynton Kelly, Gene Ramey, and Max Roach.   $1000.00.
