Description
Nice UK first press copy of The Rolling Stones' 'Their Satanic Majesties Request' LP on Decca mono TXL 103, unboxed turqouise label, original 3D sleeve with original red inner. 1P1/P1 matrices, a UK FIRST PRESSING! Selling this on a friend's behalf, a great collection amassed over a long period of time, and he bought this on release in 1967!
Gatefold laminated 3D sleeve has a little corner bumping, a few light edge creases and a little edge wear at the top and bottom, but the spine is in SUPERB shape, clean and square with NO FADING! Some original dried glue residue is visible through the 3D picture at the top edge, but the picture itself is in very good condition. Overall, the sleeve grades EX-. Original red 'smoke' inner is in great shape, a few old fold lines and a few small creases at the opening edge, but, amazingly, NO TEARS, only very tiny top corner splits at the opening edge and a hint of ringwear. NO SEAM SPLITS, a rarity for these fragile inners! Grades EX.
Vinyl has obvious hairlines and some light spidery lines on side 1 and a couple of more obvious, but small, marks - these cause asome light background noise and the occasional click and pop. Side 2 has similar hairlines and small marks, but also, on track 4, there is a 4 inch feelable mark running parallel to the groove about a quarter of the way in. On last play on my Transcriptors turntable, this played through with no jumps or skips but with some loud clicks and a 'hiss' sound when tracking over the mark. Given these issues, and because audio is generally very strong, I am grading the vinyl as VG.
