Description
THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE - "ELECTRIC LADYLAND" - VINYL LP
TRACK - 613008/9 - 1968 - STEREO - UK 1st Pressing A1/B1/A1/B1 matrix
Very rare UK 1st pressing of this classic Hendrix double LP - one of the greatest rock albums of all time and in stunning condition!
1st pressing with A1/B1/A1/B1 matrix, laminated gatefold sleeve with the blue text inside (later issues had white text).
This copy is complete and in fantastic looked-after condition and would grace any classic 60s rock/psych record collection. There aren't many of these about and certainly not in this condition. You can listen to this amazing album in full below.
CONDITION (I use the UK Record Collector grading system)
THE RECORDS: EX
Both discs are in truly fantastic condition with beautiful shiny mirror-like surfaces showing only one or two faint or slight surface marks from sleeve removal. No major marks or wear, the only mark to affect play is a light scuff-line across 'Long Hot Summer Night', which seems to have been made from inner-bag removal.
The labels are bright and clean and show only a small amount of spindlelines, indicating just a few plays of disc 1 (labels A & D). The disc 2 labels (B & C) show barely any play at all.
The records were listened to in full at high volume and all 4 sides play with superb clean audio (listen in full below!).. the only thing to report is just some intermittant light ticks in 'Long Hot Summer Night' from the aforementioned light scuff mark, but its certainly nothing loud or obtrusive. Otherwise there is no surface noise of any significance, just clear clean near perfect audio...even in the gaps between the tracks! - no crackle, no distortion, no loud clicks....being critical there's just one or two soft noises and a couple of light pops - please listen in full below - it really is that good and almost unbelievable for this album, which is hard enough to find in any condition but in this state near impossible! side A plays EX+, side B plays VG++ (the light ticks in Long Hot Summer Night, otherwise great), side C plays NEAR MINT, side D plays NEAR MINT ..remember this is an mp3 recording so gives only some idea of the quality of the audio...it must be heard on vinyl and in person to really be appreciated! If you cannot access the mp3 or they are slow to load, please refresh this page to try again)
SIDE A IN FULL MP3 (And The Gods Made Love/Have You Ever Been To Electric Ladyland/Cross Town Traffic/Voodoo Chile):
SIDE B IN FULL MP3 (Little Miss Strange/Long Hot Summer Night/Come On/Gipsy Eyes/The Burning Of The Midnight Lamp):
SIDE C IN FULL MP3 (Rainy Day Dream Away/1983 A Merman.../Moon Turn The Tides):
SIDE D IN FULL MP3 (Still Raining Still Dreaming/House Burning Down/All Along The Watchtower/Voodoo Chile Slight Return):
THE SLEEVE: EX
This is the 1st pressing laminated flipback sleeve by E J Day with the original blue text inside. It has been very well looked-after in a plastic sleeve and is still in beautiful clean, flat and solid condition with only light storage wear and no major defects.
The laminate surface is shiny and flat with hardly any creases (one small one coming from the spine on front, a couple more small ones on the back and a small number of tiny mild creases at the back bottom edge, and thats it!). There are no bends. Very slight surface rubs/disc impression if angled in light but not obvious ringwear.
Edges are still nice and sharp and perfectly square and corners have just light softening at the tips. Spine is solid and square showing a light fold crease along its length and just a couple of small bits of surface loss. Some small indenting to the back opening edge on the front flap but all other opening edges are nice and sharp.
Inside is fully laminated and very clean and uncreased, just one or two mild creases and some minor cracking to the laminate at the spine.
All in all an incredible example of this iconic gatefold sleeve and when you conside its age and rarity it would be tough to find better!
Comes with the original poly-lined 'Plastic Bags Can Be Dangerous' inner bags in EX condition (date coded 098 i.e. September 1968)
