Description

An original XMAS 1970 copy of Zep II on UK Atlantic Red & Plum. Matrix A6/B4. The vinyl comes housed in an original semi dark brown E J Day printed cover. The lighter covers are the early ones...and they get progressively darker as you go through 70, and onto 71 ...ending up close on black. We also have the original 'plastic bag warning' inner sleeve date coded to 1970. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In very nice condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection there are a couple of light/small marks per side. A couple do just sound [see detail below]. There are also some incredibly superficial shiny/cloudy looking blemishes in the outer sectors [mentioning just to be fully transparent - no effect on the audio]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations per side. This copy really is impressive and more than capable of conveying the sheer weight in the guitars that later copies just cannot manage to do. The only background I can detect was a bit of low-level flutter in the quieter moments of 'Moby' and in the intro to 'Bring It Back Home'. Other than that expect no noticeable background at all. The deviations - there's 3 ticks in one of the quiet moments in 'WIAWSNB' - and then again 30 seconds later. To be frank - this track still plays amazingly well. Then there's a small radial mark midway through 'Killing Floor' - which causes a 1 second pulse of distortion and a click. Six ticks midway through Ramble. Any issues are very brief and, when set against the terrific performance delivered consistently on the record, do not present a major problem. Highly recommended!
Cover (Ex) Wow, how many original Zep II's do you see looking like this? Very unusual to see one this well preserved. The front looks really clean and unaged. No signs of surface wear or creasing as is typical. The rear exhibits hardly any of that surface wear that so often afflicts this title - very nice!. The interior looks great - no issues at all. There's some very light edge wear in the odd spot - nothing noticeable. The openings are still sharp. The spine is superbly preserved  - I don't think I've ever seen better. It's retained the original square structure. And exhibits almost no wear - which is incredibly unusual. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A super looking example and one that would be difficult to replicate.
Inner (Vg+) Bag still present. Lightly aged. No splits.
