Description
Artist: ELVIS PRESLEY
Title: “Speedway”
Date: 1968.
Matrix numbers are A1/-1S on both sides.
Label: RCA VICTOR. Catalog number is LPM-3989. Mono pressing on medium weight vinyl, with deep groove. Black label with silver text.
Condition:
DISC: Vinyl has been played very sparingly, grades nice VG++ with full original gloss. There are several very light hairline scuffs & faint marks that produce very soft tics in a couple places, but no loud clicks or pops. Plays very enjoyably with superb fidelity.
Side 1 Label has black marker writing at the bottom (radio station index number in black felt pen on the black label (see photos);
Side 2 Label also has the same index number, and it appears the original owner attempted to remove the writing but abandoned the effort when it began to discolor the label.) has tannish staining over the marker writing (see photos).
JACKET: Jacket is overall very presentable, with some issues that should be noted. Front and reverse artwork is nice and bright. Seams, spine and corners are nice, with some wear/minor flaking along the opening edge at right, visible in the photos. Bottom corners are lightly bumped, as shown in photos.
PLEASE NOTE: The radio station which originally had this LP wrote their index number in black sharpie pen at the top of the jacket on both front and reverse. Subsequently, the person who acquired it from the radio station attempted to obscure the radio station markings by using a “white-out” substance to make it less obvious, which I feel was successful. Please see photos and feel free to ask any questions.
No other writing, stickers, cutout indications, or other issues. Overall, this is a very pretty jacket that would be easily graded at VG+ or better if not for the marker and erasing at the top of the front and reverse.
The original 8x10” photo is included. It is a nice looking photo, with colors that are vivid and bright. I give it a grade of VG+, due to some minor creasing and light surface scuff marks.
Also included is the original RCA “Elvis” inner sleeve promoting other albums in the Elvis soundtrack and LP catalogs (has torn area on the Soundtrack side).
I have placed a low minimum bid of $199 which represents a rare opportunity to possibly acquire this holy grail of Elvis LPs which normally sells for hundreds of dollars more in top condition. This copy, while far from perfect, should be quite pleasing to many if not most collectors.
As with all my records, I offer a complete guarantee of satisfaction. If not happy, simply return it in same condition for a full refund of purchase price plus one-way postage.
