Album Title: Abbey Road

Cat Number: PCS 7088 Stereo. Misaligned Apple on back (See close up picture), no credit for ‘Her Majesty’ on cover or label.

Label and Condition: Apple. Beautiful examples of this most famous label. deep rich colour and only very light spine traces. I would imagine this record has been played no more than 3-4 times at most, once by me for that vital play-grading.

Original Year of Release: 1969

Matrix Nos: YEX 749-2 and YEX 750-1. This one has the tiny press numbers of 4 and 2 respectively.

Album Information: Any serious Beatles collector will know the importance of this copy of ‘Abbey Road’ and its scarcity, especially in top condition. As I have stated many times before, Beatles albums are not rare, they sold in huge numbers - but finding them in superb condition is another matter. People bought their albums and played and played them - that is what they were for, to be enjoyed and loved. Finding 60s records, especially Beatles records in a near unplayed condition is always a far more difficult matter. Well this record is just that, it looks close to new, an extraordinary one to find. Apart from that, this is highly prized mis-aligned copy with the Apple logo on the back cover around half an inch out or register. Not only that, this copy has NO reference to the final short track ‘Her Majesty’. (Please check the labels and back cover closely - no mention whatsoever). So a prized copy in sensational condition, this should please most Beatles collectors needing this scarce record for their collection. I will not give any lengthy details about this classic album - most interested people will know all about it already. It goes without saying it made number one in the UK and US. Side one has elements of individualism whereas side two is more collective: where partworks and fragments are fused together to perfection to construct a breathtaking suite. The whole album is an experience of the ultimate joy of pop music itself. And in the end, the love you make…

Cover Condition and Details: Excellent+, single, laminated both sides, Printed by Garrod & Lofthouse International Ltd. This rare example has that mis-aligned apple and no reference to Her Majesty (as stated already, but its so important to note this). This is a super example of this highly prized Beatles cover: It has beautiful deep rich colour and a dazzling mirror-like shine. Wear is only light and appearance is gorgeous, more details are below:

Cover Lamination: Front and back, no lifting, peeling or dry areas. Both sides have a deep shine and have no nasty indents. Any dull areas are small and none show unless viewed under angled bright lighting - under normal viewing conditions this laminate looks truly superb. No really deep unsightly creases, just a lightish one near Harrison’s backward leg. This is lovely solid and unyellowed lamination.

Cover Front: Simply to say one of the all-time classic front covers. This one is very nice and attractive with little wear. Intense original colour and very clean - this is often seen scratched or dulled with many creases. Well this one has hardly any of these at all. I am being hyper-critical on this one (some tell me I am anyway, but I try my best to be as honest as I can, and this one is extra-important). There is a tiny mark right at the top centre, so small the scan will have not seen it, and there is a rub on the bottom right corner tip, this may be just viewable. Also a tiny crease on the left bottom corner and the aforementioned light crease. Bar these very small and minor wears this front cover is wonderful and looks truly magnificent.

Cover Back: The back of this cover is close to mint with just a tiny, and I mean tiny chip on the bottom edge below the word International, this is only a few mm long (now be honest how many sellers would even mention this?) A tiny almost invisible crease on the E of Abbey, I almost missed this as it hardly shows. Bar these again a stunning back cover, even better than the front.

Cover Edges: The edges are close to perfect with no wear under the uncracked laminate. Just a small rub on that right hand bottom edge. This cover has a very thin spine that is still razor sharp, all its text is pristine under that solid and undamaged laminate - a couple of minute laminate cracks only on the spine. Any cornerwear is light, hardly any on the top, left and right. The most, as stated is on the bottom right which is still only small and very light really. Overall this is a superb example of this very scarce item - one that shows up little now - just finding the mis-aligned cover with no reference to ‘Her Majesty’ is difficult - finding one in this condition is a massive bonus. This cover should please most collectors.

Vinyl Condition: Do I dare use to the ‘Mint’ for this, well its very close, but I will stick to a Mint(-) - a term I dont use lightly, a stunning copy - super clean and shiny and virtually unmarked (there may be a microscopic mark on side two is being hyper-critical - no sound whatsoever). Pressed on very heavy vinyl this copy is hard to fault, it simply looks amazing. My play-grade was a wonderful experience - I have always loved this album (who doesn’t?). The sound quality and detail is breathtaking. Another majestic George Martin production with massive bass on ‘I Want You’(She’s So Heavy), play this loud on a big system and it can shake the foundations. There is not even a hint of any distortion or sound degradation - it simply hasn’t been played many times. This beautiful vinyl experience takes you right into the recording studio - forget CD copies, all the feeling is lost. No Beatles album can sound better than from the source it was made on. This record I feel sure should please any collector, even the connoisseurs who only want their records as close to new as possible. Well there may be better copies of this one around, but I would seriously doubt it. The record comes in its original black inner (EX+) no tears or splits. It has one neat crease but is ruffled little, the centre window is crisp and sharp. It has its patent number in tiny type on the back, almost too small to read in fact. The two inner flipbacks are solid and unfreyed or lifted. A super inner, considering its age, remarkable - proving yet again this record has made the trip out hardly ever.

Final Summary: A hugely important album and a scarce version of it. This is a record that you would only want to buy once - this copy, especially the record itself, is in that ‘Never Need to Upgrade’ condition. A beautiful record - even that gap of silence between The End and Her Majesty is absolutely dead silent - even I was amazed by this. How many copies can play that good? not too many I would suggest. I make no apology for this lengthy description, this one is important and I have tried to describe it exactly the way it is (warts and all - but this is a princess, not a frog). Mailing Details: All records are sent in plastic covers with the record taken out of the sleeve and sent in professional mailers with a minimum of TWO stiffners for extra protection. More expensive items are also inserted into a de-luxe heavy duty padded bag AS WELL to give that extra protection and three or four stiffners. I truly want ALL my items to arrive to their destination in the same condition they leave me.
