Until this point, the project of Tim Presley was largely a bedroom-bound garage rock proposition, but "For The Recently Found Innocent" was recorded in the studio of his friend and fellow '60s revivalist Ty Segall, who also contributes drums. His first effort for Chicago label Drag City, the result is a vibrant slab of Buffalo Springfield-style songsmithery and Syd Barrett-esque whimsy, that manages to avoid the lure of the overly reverential in favour of a maverick spark that sets these kaleidoscopic transmissions from the ether alight. This marks the point where Presley truly comes into his own as a psychedelic seer, joining the dots between the California of the '60s and the thrift store chic of 2014.
