Description

This is one of the absolute rarest velvet underground 45's in existence (in fact one of the rarest velvet underground pieces of vinyl in existence). Only the Radio Spot picture sleeve has gone for more money ($1675, and $2178 respectively). What makes this copy so special, and start at such a high bid price is it is the much more rare/scarce dark blue stock copy, meaning it was the copy meant for the buying population, oddly enough it is way more common for the DJ promo to show up in comparison, quite a unique situation. This edition has only shown up 3 times ever.
The most recent went for $1585 in "strict vg-vg+ condition" about one year ago. Several years ago two others in VG and VG- respectively surfaced. No NM copy has ever shown up. This might possibly be the rarest Velvet Underground 45 in known existence due to it's stunning condition. The labels are extraordinarily clean with no BB hole, this in and of itself is almost unheard of, as this edition in the stock dark blue meant for the buying public was a flop as far as singles go, which is why we see the DJ promo copy much much more often. Likely the case with this being their very first single is only a run or two of these were produced, due to it's scarcity, I'd bet the latter.
It is safe to say we will likely never see another copy of this in NM condition, given the extreme scarcity of this edition. I think it's reasonable to say given the nature of the Velvet Underground fan base, surely by now one would have turned up, as many many people are searching for this. I've been holding onto this for a while now, and it pains me to sell such an artifact, but I have to get to Florida to visit relatives this spring.
This single was released in November 1966, predating the release of the LP. The mixes of Sunday Morning and Femme Fatal on this 45 are slightly different then the LP versions, in fact a reissue of the velvet underground singles was released and it was said the 45 mix was "a richer and fuller sound".
Currently this is housed in a brand new white generic sleeve, it was found in it's original MGM verve stock sleeve which will be sent with the item as well.
Side A: Sunday Morning
Side B: Femme Fatal
Vinyl Condition: NM (amazing copy, looks practically brand new, plays like the day it was made)

This week I will be selling some rare 45's, mostly rock and soul in nature. I also have some amazing orange vinyl Taiwan classic rock lp's (many that have never surfaced on the web), so be sure to take a look! This week I'm listing up several rare Taiwan Orange Vinyl pressings, such as The Kinks, Moby Grape, The Beatles...just to name a few, as well as some rare 45's, and a few other cool items. My Grading Scale is: SS (still sealed), M (mint, no mint minus, for me this grade will only ever apply to something I personally unsealed, and had zero defects) NM (+ or -), EX, VG+, VG, VG-, G (I don't sell G records, it would have to be something incredibly valuable/rare). You won't be disappointed, I'm a record collector first and foremost, for more then half a decade. I have about 2,000 lp's, a ton of 45's and 12's. Add me as a favorite seller, I often list the rare and obscure, everything from UK classic rock pressings, jazz, northern soul 45's, folkways, electronic, xian, international, library, the private press and more.
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS: I'm happy to ship
anywhere in the world, but please wait for my
invoice, I also combine shipping prices!

Thank you!
