Description
This is a rare item indeed. How I obtained this is lost in the mists of time but I suspect it was one of a bunch of old singles stored in the back of the record shop in Belfast where I worked in the 1970’s which were waiting to be thrown out. It has never been played. I believe there are collectors who know more about this than I, but the attached photos show excepts from websites which provide more detail and a starting point for research. There are rare record sites where this single is offered for sale at considerablely higher prices, and which are not in this items pristine condition.
I do know the single was cut as a charity fund raiser for the Queens University Belfast Rag Day and recorded and pressed in Belfast. The band were previously a covers band playing dances, weddings, and the like. They moved into own penned material more reflecting the mood of the time, prompted by the singer and writer Terry Palmer. They had a large student following. I understand the B side of this single is an instrumental, which was unusual in itself in those days for a band of such a background.
For those who appreciate what this record represents, enjoy bidding.
