THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
UK 1963 1st PRESSING *BLACK & GOLD* LABEL MONO LP
**NEAR MINT 'DICK JAMES' COPY**
This superb 1963 mono 1st pressing is on the UK black & gold Parlophone label: PMC 1202
Both labels bear the incorrect 'Dick James Mus.' publishing credits for songs 1 & 2 on side 1 and 4 & 6 on side 2.
An 'MZT' tax/price code is visible on the side 1 label.
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
Stamper numbers: 1/A & 1/T
Housed in a correct, early front laminated, tri-flipback 'E.J. Day' printed mono cover
The 'Angus McBean' credit is positioned in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex' poly-lined inner-sleeve.
This copy comes with its original 'NEMS' plastic cover from Brian Epstein's Liverpool record shop.
CONDITION DiscLabels: NEAR MINT
A pristine set with no spindle marks, holewear/touch-up, writing or missing paper.
Visual: EXCELLENT PLUS
This really well-looked after and rarely played copy retains all its deep gloss shine to both surfaces without any groove-whitening or storage wear.
The only significant marks visible in daylight are 1 or 2 light faint fingernail lines but there are certainly no other marks or scratches anywhere.
Close inspection directly beneath a halogen desk lamp reveals nothing more than a healthy 'rainbow' shine and some inner-sleeve removal hairlines.
Pressed on very thick vinyl which lies 100% flat on both sides with no signs of dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT PLUS
This disc has received only a few careful plays on good quality equipment and the sound quality of this very first pressing is outstanding.
All tracks play without any background noise, crackle or any other significant or major audible wear.
Apart from a hint of light wear on 'Twist & Shout' I detected no signs of any groovewear distortion.
Both run-ins & all bands play without any clicks, pops or any other interference.
Very, very hard to find a better looking or sounding copy.
Cover: EXCELLENT
An early example with a clean & bright front panel which reatins an unscratched lamiante bearing just a small 3cm light crease to the lower right corner.
There is some light shelfwear to the lower corners and a small bump to the upper right, but both opening edges are clean and sharp & unworn.
The rear is clean & white with just some tiny faint age-spots but no futher marks, writing or missing paper.
Both seams are clean & unworn with no flaking laminate.
The spine & flipbacks are all intact & undamaged.
Clean & strong with just minor storagewear, but no splits, tears or writing.
