Original true earliest 1st US Monarch, LA Mono pressing with the uncensored lyrics on “The End” track of The Doors’ self-titled debut album released in the early January, 1967. The DJs who received this copy in a factory sealed condition, could read the sticker reading “Mono Copy inside for Radio Stations” which is still affixed to the cover underneath the shrink wrap. The Mono copy located inside had the uncensored lyrics on “The End” track and most likely, the red “For Adults Only Not For Airplay” censor sticker was affixed at the radio station. This radio station was most likely the 93/KHJ Boss Radio Los Angeles and not only because the copy is the Monarch pressing, but also because it was in the collection of a person who was collecting items related to the 93/KHJ station for many years. In addition to this, inside the cover we also discovered an original “93/KHJ Top 300 1968 Edition” 4-panel fold-out booklet where The Doors’ “Light My Fire” not only tops the “Top 300” chart but also the “Top Ten” chart supported by a photo of the band. This copy with the distinct series of “F*ck”s repeated by Jim Morrison represents the earliest uncensored Monarch, LA plant pressing with the misprint labels indicating the first track as “Break On Through (To The Oher Side). Original 1st print Elektra Records gold labels which besides the EKL-4007 catalog number and 2 ⅞” pressing ring feature a "(Weill-Brecht) Witmark (ASCAP)" publishing credit for “Alabama Song (Whisky Bar)” on Side 1 which was changed to "(Weill-Brecht) Harms Co. (ASCAP)" on the reissues. The vinyl pressed at the Monarch, LA plant contains the “(Mon)” abbreviation, “MR in Circle” stamp and Delta (△) numbers in the runout grooves on both sides. Mastered by the engineer Ray Hagerty as identified by his initials in the trail-off on both sides, the vinyl has the following 1st matrix numbers: Side 1 - EKL-4007A (Mon) "MR in a Circle" Δ10046 (Ray Hagerty's signature)

Side 2 - EKL-4007B (Mon) "MR in a Circle" Δ10046-X (Ray Hagerty's signature). The original gold-white Elektra Records inner sleeve contains the “7 Poland St” address as oppose to “2 Dean St” present on the inner sleeves that came with the later copies of the album.

The cover remaining in the original factory shrink wrap is in Near Mint Minus condition. I grade the vinyl as somewhere between Strong Very Good and Very Good Plus. It has a beautiful gloss but has some very light non-feelable surface hairlines and marks as well as scuffs from the original inner sleeve which is in Near Mint Minus condition and doesn't have any splits or tears. The glossy labels are graded as Very Good Plus. They're very clean but have a few spindle marks. The original 93/KHJ booklet is in stunning vintage condition. The Side 1 vinyl sounds amazing only having some very light occasional static. The Side 2 plays very well but has some light ticks in a couple of places and light occasional static. Perhaps they will disappear if you change the balance of your tonearm. Most likely, the static and ticks also could get reduced or go away if the record was professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine.
