In 1980 a 14 year old kid named Kurt Cobain, took a bus from Seattle to Portland, Oregon to attend an all ages show who's headliner was "THE WIPERS" "Thats when I knew what I wanted to do, after seeing Greg Sage & The Wipers", Kurt Cobain would tell an Italian newspaper 12 years later. The Wipers Influenced many bands to come after them, just about every Seattle band would site them as an influence, NIRVANA would go on to record 2 covers by THE WIPERS and in concert would play the ten minute plus epic "Youth Of America"

The Wipers Released "Youth of America" in 1981, and it was a bit different from their previous efforts & even sounds different from other recordings made during the same time frame....The song "Youth of America" itself is taken directly from a dream that Greg Sage had about the future...At a time  where people over breed themselves to the point that even the most simple thing had become the highest level of competition...The dream had such a sense of realism and intensity to it, that "I went overboard with the recording to symbolize it", Greg Sage would say..."Also at the time it was the trend with the hardcore punk movement that most songs were very fast and short, and it came to the point that some bands were doing songs as short as ""13 seconds""!..."I did the opposite to make a song go over ten minutes, this didn't make us popular in the United States but in Europe and other places overseas it was a different story, we had sold out shows every place we went and they just couldn't get enough"..."It would  take 6 or 7 years before the kids in the U.S. discovered what we had been doing and then it all turned around in the states and we were in demand...Europe was receptive to us from the beginning so most of our tours were focused there"...

THE WIPERS, real leaders in hardcore punk rock were formed in 1977 in Portland, Oregon by Guitarist Greg Sage, Drummer Sam Henry & Bass Player Dave Koopal.

This is a must have album for any true hardcore fan, you can hear the influence that they had on so many bands. This record contains the songs,

THE RECORD IS RATED " VG++ ", IT HAS SURFACE MARKS BUT NOT A SKIP OR A POP, NO SURFACE NOISE...IT PLAYS ALL THE WAY THROUGH PERFECT (I am very conservative with my grading, it could easily be Mint -), THE COVER IS PERFECT AND STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL CELLOPHANE AND PRICE TAG ON IT. I WAS LIVING IN BOSTON IN 1981 AND I HAD TO SPECIAL ORDER ALL OF THE WEST COAST BANDS LPS, SO I KNOW THESE WEREN'T MASS PRODUCED...AND THIS RECORD IS CHERRY!
