Description
For auction is SONNY ROLLINS' "Saxophone Colossus", on Prestige PRLP 7079, 1956.
It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. There is one, single "click" in A/1 "St. Thomas", one single "click" in A/2 "You Don't Know What Love Is", and 3 "pops" in B/2 "Blue Seven". I judged each of these flaws to be minor, i.e., they don't detract from the music or listenability of the record. I just want to be complete and transparent when describing all the salient aural details on this rare record!
Visually, the vinyl is VG+ or better, with no flaws to report (routine wear). Has deep-grooves both sides, with RVG etched in dead wax. The address on the label in the Bergenfield, NJ edition.
The sleeve is VG+ or better, with no flaws of note other than a little fraying on bottom seam (no split). It's clean, with solid seams and corners all around. The cover retains original gloss. Has marker in upper left corner front, and "not for sale" stamp on reverse.
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics. A rare record, in great condition. No reserve, bidding starts at $100.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
