~THE MUSIC~

The Beatles were at the peak of their global influence and visibility in late 1968. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, released the previous year, had enjoyed a combination of commercial success, critical acclaim, and immense cultural influence that had previously seemed inconceivable for a pop release. Time, for instance, had written in 1967 that Sgt. Pepper's constituted a "historic departure in the progress of music—any music," while Timothy Leary, in a widely quoted assessment of the same period, declared that the band were prototypes of "evolutionary agents sent by God, endowed with mysterious powers to create a new human species." The Beatles" was the first album that the group undertook following the death of their manager, Brian Epstein, and the first released by their own record label, Apple. According to the Recording Industry Association of America, The White Album, recorded in 1968, is the Beatles' best-selling album at 19-times platinum and one of the top 10 best sellers ever in the world. Known to everyone as The White Album, this double album is an endless reservoir of great '60s rock music. Paul produced classics such as the rollicking inspired rocker “Back in the U.S.S.R.," the fun sing along “Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da,” the whimsical tale “Rocky Raccoon” (a prime showcase for Paul's storytelling skills), several other simple but pretty pleasures ("Martha My Dear," “Blackbird” “I Will,” “Mother Nature’s Son”) that pointed the way to his more whimsical solo career, a raucous “Birthday” song (with Lennon), and the wildly frenetic “Helter Skelter,” which approached heavy metal and became infamous as one of serial killer Charles Manson’s favorite songs. Lennon was also in fine form, delivering the wonderfully laid-back “Dear Prudence,” the self-referential “Glass Onion,” the darkly moody turned doo-wop inspired “Happiness Is A Warm Gun,” which culminates with a spine-tingling falsetto finish, “I’m So Tired,” on which he sure sounds it (most memorably so), the simple but beautiful ballad “Julia” (his mother’s name, though the song was also dedicated to his new love, the widely detested Yoko Ono), the raw, stoned rocker “Yer Blues,” the equally unadorned and thoroughly crazed “Everybody’s Got Something To Hide Except Me and My Monkey,” and “Revolution 1,” For his part, Harrison wrote “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” which towers over his three other efforts here (“Long Long Long” is also quite good), topped off by friend Eric Clapton’s monumental guitar solo. Finally, Ringo penned the catchy country/carnival song “Don’t Pass Me By” and sang the lullaby-like album closer, “Good Night.” Some of the songs are infectious and whimsical ("Piggies" has intriguing harpsichord-led verses and a funny chorus) ...of course the acid -illusions and controversial “Revolution 9” is the height of ‘60s self-indulgence. Maybe George Martin (who has a more subtle role this time as the album features more pure Beatles and less studio trickery) had a point when he felt that this should’ve been edited into a single album, but the album's glorious sprawl is also part of what makes it so much fun. After all, ask 100 people to pare this album down to a single cd and odds are that you'll get 100 different answers, and The White Album contains some of The Beatles prettiest and hardest rocking moments on one exemplary package.

Near mint Capitol records copy of "The White Album", either orange or purple label from the 70's. This vintage gatefold is a real time capsule, which contains the poster and photos of the Beatles inside. This is a factory sealed USA Pressing, not one of those 180 gram reissues, foreign, or bootleg issues. Heavy cardboard construction (1 lb. 1.5 oz.), with 2 heavy vinyl records inside. Photos are of actual item, not stock images, so you can see close up details of the item you are actually purchasing These unopened gatefolds are hard to find sealed, since most fans would open them up to see what was inside. Unopened and unplayed. Still sealed (SS) Capitol, double album gatefold issue. Own a piece of Rock and Roll history !

~SHIPPING~

I only ship USPS Priority, and with a tracking number. Media mail is not a good idea, since fragile records are thrown in with heavy book orders, and the prospect of damage is increased. I used to provide shipping as a free service, but now must charge a minimal fee to meet my costs. I am sorry but I do not ship out of the USA. I live too far from the post office, and it is too big of a hassle to ship internationally. I have always provided free insurance for any order. Insurance basically covers you in the unlikely event that your item turns up missing. In my opinion, still sealed vinyl records are historical items that need to be adequately protected especially during shipping. As I see it, is our duty to the collectors of the future to keep them in the best condition possible. Simply writing "fragile" on the package assumes that the gorillas at the USPS know how to read. For shipping, I use a double layer of cardboard which extends beyond the corners of the jacket. By doing this, you are extremely likely to receive your item in the same condition you saw in the photos. Just knowing that your item will arrive safely is an extra value in my opinion.

~REFUND POLICY~

I will refund your money in its entirety regardless of the reason, with in the first two weeks of you receiving the item. I will send your refund through Paypal as soon as I receive the item back to me in the same condition I sent it to you in. Please do not open sealed records, unless you plan on keeping them. I can understand why you might want to hear the music, as it was originally intended. If that is the case, you might want to consider purchasing an opened copy which is in mint condition. You may find it interesting to know that sealed records are generally worth about 10 times that of an opened record to collectors. There are plenty of mint opened records to be had, and opening a sealed vintage record is like spending an uncirculated coin. Again, still sealed items MUST be returned sealed in order to be eligible for a refund. You will be responsible for return shipping.


~SOME THINGS TO THINK ABOUT BEFORE BUYING~

If you have been buying records on Ebay for any time at all, you might have noticed that most of the big sellers out there are unlikely to respond to your emails. If they do, they will often come off rude and disinterested. They are of course, too busy to give you the time of day, or respond to your questions with any detail. If they do respond, it seems like many of them are not about to be bothered with addressing your actual questions. I am not too big to care. I understand that many collectors, are looking for sealed records in pristine condition, though items in this shape are rare. Many times, the best we can do, or afford for that matter, is a record with some flaws, in an effort to fill that spot in our collection. The photos you see are the actual item, and I am not trying to hide imperfections or flaws with substandard photos, inadequate focus or lighting. To the contrary, if anything, I usually Photoshop the items with extra contrast to show the flaws more than you might actually see in natural light. You will get the item you see in the photo.
