So far it is well-known that every time Reverend Bizarre release a new album they, at the same time, preach the gospel of doom and, of course, support the rule "Doom What Thou Wilt" with their whole existence! During 2005 another doom metal apocalypse came true in front of our very eyes and its name "II: Crush The Insects", another utterly inspired album with an intense Black Sabbath feeling being vivid through the whole duration of the album.
If "Harbinger Of Metal" was an ultra slow, utterly heavy and dark traditional doom metal album, "II: Crush The Insects" is, up to a limit, the opposite since Reverend Bizarre unleash their fury (what do you think? Could it be the fact that Candlemass released a new album and they are celebrating ever since…?) with ultra groovy guitar riffing, remaining heavy, paying tribute many times to the rule "Slow shall be the whole of the law", with the rhythm section creating walls of sound with its imposing and skilful approach and Magister Albert Witchfinder burning the shrouds with his epic and, at the same time, imposing and gifted voice, being one of the most charismatic singers of the scene.
"Doom Over The World" consists of a hymn to doom metal and announces the forthcoming dominion of doom on planet earth. The album flows in the same groovy and drunk way with great songs like "The Devil Rides Out" and "Cromwell". Of course they couldn't forget their ultra slow days and they offer us an utterly ultra slow/heavy opus bearing the name "Slave Of Satan", in which Albert Witchfinder reaches the borders of insanity with his fabulous and vivid interpretation, and the epic and devout hymn "Eternal Forest" or the dark after-midnight madness of "Fucking Wizard" (in the end of the song Reverend Bizarre give their everything and they rock all the way, a lot of fucking groove, just like it has to be). Except for that, Reverend Bizarre intend to "fool" their fans with songs just like "Council Of Ten" and "By This Axe I Rule!" that seem to flow slowly but as they flow they turn faster and faster with the band celebrating in a Black Sabbath way in the end!
Yes, Reverend Bizarre are a doom metal band and this is what they are doing all these years, unleashing their doom to the world, and, believe me, they do it in the most appropriate way! A must-have album for all the doom metal fans!
