Description
Here is a programme from the early years of this famous group. As you can see, they were top of the bill - not heard of any of the other acts which were not all pop-related.
The tour followed the success of their third release Not Fade Away and, as I remember it, they did not perform many songs, just Come On and I Wanna be Your Man.
The Royalty Theatre is in City Road, Chester and was quite a small venue. This show was on April 18th and was to be followed by other One Night Stands by Manfred Mann, Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen, The Applejacks, Chris Barber and his Jazzmen, Bern Elliot and the Fenman, The Mojos and a spectacular on July 4th starring Big Dee Irwin, with Jess Conrad. Lots of Sixties' names then. The programme only has six inside pages (sides), with adverts for local businesses and details of forthcoming shows.
I managed to lose a shoe and a cardigan at the show but did keep hold of the programme! It has a couple of small creases but the staples are intact and the whole is very clean.
