VERY RARE
Black & Gold mono 1st pressing from 1963 The Beatles 'Please Please Me'
sold yesterday, on E-bay for a staggering £2,150.00
I am pleased to say I also have a copy, 1963 The Beatles 'Please Please Me' with the E.J.Day Cover' Angus Bean' photo credit set to the far right' The Parlophone Company' edge text, The record is pressed on thick quality vinyl.
The matrix numbers on my record are XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N. The stamped codes (ARE 1 L AND 1 P) The Cat. No is PMC 1202 and is on the original Black & Gold Parlophone label (see picture) so must also be a MONO 1st pressing .
Record labels are in pristine condition (see pictures) with no wear, no writing, and only barely any spindle marks (see pictures) The vinyl is in very good condition for its age.(meaning this one plays superbly , on my very sensitive high quality system, no deep scratches, no jumps, A very very ,slight crackle barely audible, I get that on all of my mono records. In normal light looks almost perfect too. However there are few light paper scuffs only visible under artificial light, possibly from going in & out of it’s cover over the years, but have no audible affect,
The Cover also in near pristine condition for its age,It has no edge wear, no spinal wear, very slight corner wear no tears or splits or writing. The opening edge has very slight feathering. Even the back of the cover is in is in clean condition with no writing, no grubbiness, and no yellowing, The cover is in fact Very Good+ and has been kept in an outer clear plastic record cover , The inner sleeve I hasen to say is torn,and has the words Have borrowed abbey road RoXy, written on it .
I am not a dealer so am not familiar with all there terms but I can say that I Have owned this record for forty years and enjoyed every moment of it.). Black and Gold Records are extremely hard Beatles Pressings to find nowadays in anywhere near decent condition. Most are found damaged and barely playable, if at all. But I have tried to look after mine but still enjoy it.
I have a whole collection to sell so keep looking at my auction you never know what might turn up, More Beatles, Rolling stones, Gerry Lee, Buddy Holly, you name I bet I got it, and I haven’t had a sort out for many years.( note you are only buying one record here today though, don’t want to mislead,’) This record Please please me on parlophone gold label) so good luck bidding.I will be pleased to answer any questions you might have.
