Description

Roots: Rhythm and Blues (RBF 20) (1966). Featuring 15 tracks by Al White & His Hi-Liters, Naomi Bradly, The Queenettes, The Dominoes, The Barons, Louis Armstrong & His Rainbow of Rhythm, Dave Bonds, Phillip & The Originals, Johnny Larand & The Internes.

Produced by Henry R. Hines of Lynn's Productions, Nelson St, Greenville, MS, and Al White. The recordings, made expressly for this LP, were done at Cosimo Matassa's studio in New Orleans. The artists are variously from New Orleans, Mississippi, Florida, etc.

This compilation was perhaps the oddest issue to appear on RBF (a subsidiary of Folkways mostly devoted to reissues of early blues and country music), and, perhaps consequently, did not find a large audience and is little known outside a small circle of R&B and Southern Soul collectors.

Condition: as new. The flawless jacket is still in its original shrinkwrapping, opened just to check that the disc is mint (which it is) and that it contains the booklet (which it does). As pristine a copy as you are likely to find of this deeply obscure and rare LP.
