I have been collecting PF vinyl for many years and I am sure that other collectors will agree when I say that a 1ST German pressing on the Gold & Red label is an extremely rare find in this condition; in fact in any condition let alone the MINT- I offer up for auction here.
It has taken me years to find this pressing in this condition!

I am offering up for auction my collectors copy of Sid Barrett’s masterpiece “The Piper @ The Gates of Dawn”, SMC-74-321 on the GOLD, RED & WHITE COLUMBIA label. I have finally completed recording my entire Floyd catalog to reel-to-reel and it’s time to let them go to another good home.
VINYL: NEAR MINT!
To start; the record is pressed on VERY THICK CHUNKY VINYL and not the flimsy thin vinyl used on the later pressings and seems much thicker than the vinyl used in the UK pressings.
The MATRIX NUMBERS in the dead wax ends in 1 on both sides #1 & #2.
LABLES: PERFECT w/NO SPINDLE MARKS!
WHITE with RED text & GOLD border on the COLUMBIA label.
Original issue with "Bestell-Nr" above the catalog number on the right side of the label.
At the bottom of the label is "ST" and "33" in two interlocking circles.
COVER: NEAR MINT!
White with tracklisting. Title in red letters at the top. In the top right corner it says STEREO auch MONO abspielbar SMC 74 321
In the lower left corner is the Columbia/EMI-logo. Credits says "Nicky Mason – Drums”.
The cover’s (4) edges are ALL beautiful shy of a couple slight corner dings (see photo).
There ARE NO CREASES! There is NO WRITING and NO RING WEAR, NO SEAM SPLITS1
The COVER IS FLAT & the opening edges are beautifully STRAIGHT as is the SPINE!
VINYL: STUNNING MINT-!
It took me 5-YEARS to finally find this LP in this condition. It is simply in stunning condition with MAYBE ONE or TWO wispy lines from removing from & replacing back into the inner sleeve. YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!
VISUALLY: A BEAUTIFUL MINT-! and as it had been pressed yesterday w/NO GRAYING of the grooves!
PLAY GRADING:
It was also relief to find that the playing of the record is as stunning as the visual; WHICH IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE!
It plays “DEAD QUIET”, CRISP & CLEAN STEREO! with only the slightest low-level hiss at very loud volumes during silent passages. There are NO HISS, NO POPS, NO CRACKLES, and NO JUMPS & NO STICKS! The sound quality is simply superb with NO GROOVE WEAR and NO DISTORTION!
