This is one of the stylistical sidesteps of McCartney's career, but this time he pulls it off. Of course this is no masterpiece, and originally it wasn't even supposed to be released, but rather a fun experiment which works out good most of the time, and that's what makes it such a great listen.

"Coming Up" and "Temporary Secretary" are just totally wacky songs, but despite some bizarre things happening they still have their hooks and the latter has some real funky rhymes. They're my favourites on this LP. "On The Way" is a less-than-average song with just basic guitar, bass and drum backing.  I remember liking the ballad "Waterfalls" when I was much younger, but despite a few nice melodies it's not very memorable. Then again the lo-fi atmosphere is quite warm. The A-side (which is the stronger side of the album) ends with "Nobody Knows", another track with no synth experimentation, but this time quite a fun composition.

The instrumental "Front Parlour" starts the B-side sounding almost like a theme song for a Nintendo game. "Summer's Day Song" is another ballad, and is followed by the second instrumental, "Frozen Jap". They both fall into the average category. "Bogey Music" is somewhat boogey, but also bogey, and despite being an ansatisfactory composition, it takes the journey on a strange audiotrip. "Darkroom" continues on this strange musical journey, this time being a funkier song. The last song, called "One of These Days" is the only purely acoustic song on the album, and again is pretty much a ballad. Not a memorable song, but pleasant sounding, and I like Paul's harmony singing with his own lead vocals.

Interesting fact: The song "Coming Up" (though I'm not sure if the album version or the single version) partly influenced John Lennon to come out of his early retirement.

(a)          WE GRADE THE VINYL  AS  (WEAK) NEAR MINT. Some VERY LIGHT AND SUPERFICIAL abrasions – mostly sleeve scuffs -  are (barely) visible, but are probably inaudible,  and do not affect visual integrity or beauty of the vinyl. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)          The record comes in its original, custom, inner sleeve, which is UNIQUE to this album.

(c)             The record is pressed on a RELATIVELY  thick, inflexible vinyl. This is NOT a thin, flimsy ('dynaflex' type),  vinyl, but not the thickest, most rigid vinyl, either.

(d)            White Promo Label version of this title is much rarer that a regular, commercially released, version of this title. We estimate that stock copies of this album outnumber promo copies by a ratio of at least 100:1.

(e)           Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT EXCELLENT OR VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-        Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 3  (front side) and 2 (back side)

-         Visible shelf wear noted on the top and bottom seams.

-         Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine  (nothing significant)

-         The cover has a few tiny scratch marks on the front side  (BARELY VISIBLE)

-         Cover has a small, rectangular, sticker residue (small yellowish discoloration from the removed price sticker)

-         Cover has two corners slightly worn
