World War II ( WWII) Voice-O-Graph Compliments of GEM Razors and Blades American Safety Razor Corp ~ Gem Division - Brooklyn New York. “One of Gem’s contributions to the morale of America’s Armed Forces and the folks back home” This is a small 6 ½” wide plastic - recordable record type of piece that Gem made for families or soldiers to record messages to each other on, and then mail. It was an excellent promotion that - for it’s time - was a very unique way to be able to hear each other’s voices. The décor is very detailed on this item. The front says “ BUY STAMPS * BUY BONDS” all around the other edges. Then, in a smaller circle is has different men and women - from WWI and up to WWII - including a nurse, a Navy sailor, a fighter pilot, etc. Army - Air Force - Marines - Navy Military. Brightly colored with red - light beige - and greys. On back - it says “Authentic scenes of Gem blade reporters making thousands of free voice-o-grams throughout the nation.” Then is has several black and white original scenes. This item does have some wear from over the years. It does have some “crinkling.” I have no idea whether or not this has a message on it or not. Most likely it will due to the fact that I bought it from an estate in which the father fought in WWII. But I cannot guarantee there is one. Nor can I guarantee that it will play or work due to the wear. However- this is a very nice retro and true World War II & men's razor company advertising piece. Would make an excellent display piece - could be framed with other WWII items? Rare to find! Please see photos & email with any questions!
