'MOTHER' was not the most commercial song on the 'John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band' album, but it was by far, the most powerful ! Perhaps, that is why Lennon picked the song for release as a single even though he knew its appeal would be limited. The 45 was NOT released in England. In the U.S., Apple Records prepared a straight cut picture sleeve, printed by Queens Litho, and was produced in an extremely limited quantity, making it one of the absolute rarest solo Beatles pictures sleeves to find !!

Accompanied by the Scranton pressing dark green apple 45 single with the Maclen Music, Ltd U.K. credit and has the "MFD. BY APPLE" perimeter print on the A-side !!

This is one of Lennon's rarest singles, coming as the followup to his hit, "Instant Karma," as the first single from the Plastic Ono Band album. The 45 itself is the more common variety, without a star or "Mono" on the label. However, the picture sleeve is hardly common at all as it bears the image from the album and is the rarest of Lennon picture sleeves.
