Très rare 45 tours Promo des Etats-Unis. Pochette : VG ++ et vinyle VG ++. Une fissure (visible dans le cadre jaune sur les photos) a été réparée et permet la lecture parfaite du son Someone in the dark sur les 2 faces.
FACE A : version longue de 4:58 minutes avec une introduction de 20 secondes
FACE B : version courte de 3,04 minutes avec une introduction de 20 secondes.
Pour l’histoire :
Du fait de sa sortie écourtée et du nombre d'exemplaires restreints, le disque E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial a pris un peu de valeur, mais ce sont surtout les exemplaires promotionnels du single Someone in the Dark (chanson écrite par Rod Temperton) qui ont atteint des prix très élevés. Ils figurent parmi les disques les plus rares et les plus recherchés du chanteur.
Le livre audio E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial a été publié en disque vinyle LP en novembre 1982, le même mois que l'album Thriller de Michael Jackson, produit par Epic Records. Cependant, pour éviter que le livre audio n'entre en compétition avec Thriller, Epic Records avait émis deux conditions à respecter :
- MCA Records ne devait pas sortir E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial avant Noël 1982.
- La chanson Someone in the Dark ne devait pas sortir en single (or, des exemplaires promotionnels avaient déjà été envoyés à des radios).

A cause du non-respect de ces deux conditions par MCA Records, Epic Records saisit rapidement la justice, qui lui donna raison, et qui ordonna le retrait de la vente du livre audio.
Au cours de sa brève sortie, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial réussit quand même à atteindre la 37e place du Billboard 200. Il a été bien accueilli par la critique et il permit à Jackson de remporter un Grammy Award dans la catégorie « Meilleur enregistrement pour enfants ».

For the story:
Due to its shortened release and the limited number of copies, the E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial disc took on a little value, but it was mainly the promotional copies of the single Someone in the Dark (song written by Rod Temperton) that fetched very high prices. They are among the singer's rarest and most sought-after records.
The E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial audiobook was released on vinyl LP in November 1982, the same month as Michael Jackson's album Thriller, produced by Epic Records. However, to prevent the audiobook from competing with Thriller, Epic Records had issued two conditions to be respected:
. MCA Records was not to release E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial until Christmas 1982.
. The song Someone in the Dark was not to be released as a single (but promotional copies had already been sent to radio stations).
Because of the non-respect of these two conditions by MCA Records, Epic Records quickly seized justice, which gave him reason, and which ordered the withdrawal of the sale of the audio book.
During its brief release, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial still managed to peak at No. 37 on the Billboard 200.
