 Original UK Transatlantic TRA 213 from 1970. Fantastic and getting very Rare debut LP of seriously intense progressive rock masterpiece with killer electric and acoustic guitar, blistering organ, powerful bass, fine percussion, flute and classical vocals with super long tracks. This is one of the best progressive rock LPs from England .

Marsupilami is one of those bands from the early era of progressive rock that made great music. They were a British band but moved to The Netherlands to make their music. I don’t know if they were influenced at all by the Dutch progressive bands of the late sixties, early seventies. But with the good Dutch progressive tradition, they also have a flute player. The music is at times heavy, with strong guitar solos. It is mainly organ / guitar based with some accents by flute and even harmonica (which is rather unusual in progressive music). The music is complex but can also be bluesy (like Born To be Free). At times it is a bit pretentious (as can be shown in the titles of the tracks). The musicianship is great and there are some interesting instrumental bits in the tracks. My favourite is Ab Initio Ad Finem (The Opera) with its spacey start, the melodic centre and the doomy ending. This is an amazing album.

 One of the best UK progressive rock albums to be released, no other band sound like MARSUPILAMI, they released just two superb complex prog rock albums in 1970 and 1971 and they are both very rare and sought after by fans of progressive rock and psych rock music, it's very hard to chose which is their best album as this debut and their second 'ARENA' are both fantastic LP's containing superb long tracks with loads of seering lead guitar breaks and some excellent doomy organ and flute passages, the lyrics and vocals are simply amazing and also sound like nothing else of the time, this is just an amazing listening experience for the prog rock fan.

The thick early press vinyl is excellent with just a few light wispy marks/scuffs and hairlines ; The fragile fully textured single jacket sleeve is also in good condition with some edge/spine wear ,tiny mark of price sticker and few other minor imperfections , it's very difficult to find this textured cover without some storage wear of some kind so this sleeve is still very nice indeed. Both labels are very clean and bright is in excellent condition.

   This brilliant UK progressive rock      album very rarely surfaces for sale in nice condition !!

LP condition GRADING system:

M (MINT) : Sealed, never opened or played, new in original package.

NM (NEAR MINT) : Near perfect copy, played only a few times. At worst it may have one or two insignificant flaws. This is the highest grade I give for a non-sealed (used) record.

EX (EXCELLENT) : Clean copy, slight surface marks/hairlines, cover has minor defaults.

VG++ (VERY GOOD++) : More surface marks, minor flaws, or cover wear, minor edge wear (cover). Nothing serious but is not graded EX because of few minor defaults

VG+ (VERY GOOD +) : Played a lot, will show signs of handling, has marks, possibly few light scratches but no jumps or sticks. Cover wear (light ring wear, heavier corner or edge wear on cover)

VG (VERY GOOD) : Used record, played a lot, has marks, few scratches, some crackling while playing and but no jumps or sticks. Still quite listenable. Cover may have heavy corner, edge wear or split seams

G (GOOD) : Played a lot and more (but still playable), lot of scratches, crackles a lot while playing, may have jump or sticks and cover is damaged...so not so good ! This record must be very rare to be proposed in this state !!!
