grading:
I follow the Goldmine grading system and that being said I'd like to take the time to make one point clear.
There's way too much juggling with the grade "Mint". It's a delusive term and I will NOT grade any of
my records "Mint". Near Mint (NM) is the best a record can get. Period.
I also refrain from grades with "++". What's that supposed to mean anyway?
All grades are done to the best of my knowledge and belief to give you a real idea 'bout the actual condition.
NEAR MINT (NM)
A good description of a NM record is "it looks like it just came from a retail
store and it was opened for the first time." In other words, it’s perfect.
NM records are shiny and free of visible defects and play without any surface noise.
NM covers have no creases, ring wear or seam splits of any kind.
VERY GOOD+ (VG+)
A good description of a VG+ Record is "except for a couple of minor things,
this would be NM."
VG+ records show only slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light
scratches that do not affect the listening experience.
VG+ covers have only minor wear such as slightly bent corners or slight
creases to the jacket.
VERY GOOD (VG)
Many of the imperfections found on a VG+ record are more obvious on a VG record. VG is NOT bad.
VG records lack most of the original gloss found on factory-fresh records. Groove wear is evident on sight, as are light scratches deep enough to feel with a fingernail. VG records have surface noise and scratches may be audible.
VG covers clearly show signs of handling such as corner bends, creases, ring wear, small seam splits or fingerprints.

I'll take all care of the packaging to make sure the records arrive without damage.
- Vinyl's always taken out of the jacket to avoid seam splits.
- If there's a printed inner sleeve I even put the vinyl into a regular paper inner sleeve to protect the printed one.
- Records get shipped in protective PVC sleeves.
- For padding I use extra cardboards and bubble foil if needed.
- And yes, I use new factory made record mailers only. No home made packaging of the latest newspaper and
half a roll of duct-tape.
