Label and Vinyl Trail Off Markings: DEEP GROOVE. Blue and White Label marked 47 W. 63rd Street. HAS THE ® MARK UNDER THE E. Trail off is marked in larger writing BN-LP-4023-A- and BN-LP-4023-B-. Both sides have the RVG stamp. Nice ear on A; crisp, PERFECT ear on B. Shuck has 61st Street Address.

Disc Grade: Looks VG+, maybe VG++. This record has been graded under a 100-watt bulb and has been carefully examined three times. To quote author Neal Umphred, from Goldmine’s Price Guide to Collectible Jazz Albums 1949-1969, pages 16 and 17 (copyright 1994 by Krause Publications), “ . . .A Very Good Plus record (VG+) has been handled and played either infrequently or very carefully (this grade is sometimes referred to as “Excellent”). On a disc, this could mean that there are light paper scuffs from sliding in and out of a sleeve; the vinyl may have lost some- not all- of its original luster. A slight scratch that did not affect the play in an otherwise nearly Mint disc would be acceptably VG+ for most collectors; a scratch of any sort that audibly clicked throughout at a level greater than or equal to the music would not be acceptable."

Flaws of the disc: Shuck scuffs, much factory shine.

How does it play? Nearly silent throughout with some slight noises. A good VG+ if not a VG++. All bass solos sound strong. Played with EQ flat.

Inner Shuck Present? No.

Outer Shuck Condition: Front:all corners slightly bunged, LR worst where a very slight seam split is starting. Wear is not very apparent on front and would look great framed. Also,the shuck is redder than photo shows. Slight ring wear apparent on back. Back has light spots and soling on the bottom and right side. SHINY SHUCK SURFACE . . . LAMINATED?
