Incredibly Rare Original 1971 U.K. Stereo 1st Pressing 'Songs From Wasties Orchard' by Magna Carta!!! Original UK Vertigo Swirl Pressing!!! In Absolutely Stunning Condition Throughout!!! Complete with Mega Rare Original Poly-Lined Swirl Inner!!!

This is one of a number of rare original UK Swirlies that I'm listing this week. You are bidding on the mega rare 1971 U.K. Stereo 1st pressing of  'Songs From Wasties Orchard' by Magna Carta!!! To find a copy in this condition is very rare indeed. This record is in superb condition throughout, this was a notoriously fragile sleeve because it was un-laminated but mostly because it has a 2 delicate flaps on the front side which open to to reveal the artwork inside. Further, there is a small protruding piece of card and insert that was used to fasten the two main flaps together. Whenever this record turns up you can usually bet that this delicate feature has been ripped off (or at best suffered severe wear, effectively spoiling the aesthetics of the sleeve). Another thing to note here is that the spine has perfectly legible spine text. This is incredibly rare for this LP because the spine was used as the base of the LP and it almost always was the seam that the LP rested on when upright. Therefore whenever this sleeve turns up you can bet the text is almost always worn off. This one however has perfectly legible spine text and cat no. Seriously rare for this LP! An absolute must for any serious UK Vertigo collection. Like all my auctions, it has a £2.99 start and NO reserve, so what you bid is what you pay!

As you'd expect, the cool 1st press Swirl centre labels are in Stunning condition!!! There are NO Scribbles. NO lifting or Bubbling, NO unwanted writing/scribbles and just the lightest spindle lines only visible when holding the record angled against light - like I said  before, this record has hardly ever been played!!! The labels retain all their original whiteness with no yellowing or grubbiness!!! The gramophone rims containing the all important 1st press matrix are also Mint-. The first thing you notice about this record is its incredible thickness and weight (it is super heavy!) Importantly, the vinyl is also in great condition!!! It has NO Scratches, NO Bagrash, NO blemishes of any kind at all save for a series of small hairlines on Side B (only visible when holding the vinyl angled at a window)! The record still retains ALL of its original gloss and shine and has NO dulling and NO nasty greying of the grooves!!!  The thick quality pressed chunky 1970's vinyl looks and feels great (it is super heavy and thick!) It easily grades as Ex- As mentioned above, the original 1st press Marcus Keef-designed un-laminated gatefold sleeve is also in superb condition. It is unbelievably clean, tidy and unblemished!!! On the rare occasions these show up they are usually completely worn out. Vertigo's policy of not laminating their sleeves during the 1970's always leads to these sleeves turning up grubby and worn-out looking today. This one is not!!! It still retains ALL of its original stiffness and BOX SHAPE with very little edge wear!!! It folds out perfectly to reveal the inner, which is completely unblemished!!! The sleeve lies perfectly FLAT with very little ring-wear and perfectly legible text!!! It has very little of the common corner wear, seam wear and feathering to the two opening front flaps, and definitely NO seam splitting!!!  The sleeve has NO unwanted writing/scribbles/repairs etc. Anyone familiar with this particular UK Vertigo sleeve will appreciate how rare an original sleeve in this condition is!! It is a truly outstanding example and easily grades as Excellent++, (most would grade as near Mint) you will not find a better UK 1st press example!!! Of course, this record comes with its correct and original poly-lined Vertigo Swirl inner sleeve. These also always suffer from horrendous seam splitting and yellowing, and for some reason often become separated from the poly-lining. They also always seem to turn up with at least one split seam (usually the bottom where the record has knifed through) This one is different. It is perfectly flat & crease free and retains all its vibrant whiteness and has none of the yellowing common with these inners!!! There is no seam splitting and no separation of the inner poly lining. There are also no unwanted scribbles etc. A stunning example!!! A massively rare UK Vertigo 1st pressing indeed - especially in this condition. This is one of those LP's with a seriously underestimated rarity value (especially with an undamaged sleeve). You just never see this record anymore in the UK in this condition. A great album and, like all UK swirlies in this condition, a sound investment for the future! Don't Miss!

We strictly adhere to it and will only offer refunds (minus the postage AND our eBay costs) if we are satisfied that we have fallen below UK record collector grading standards.
