Description
Led Zeppelin (Untitled) often referred to as IV or 4 symbols.
This is a very rare UK 1st Pressing on the original Plum and Red (orange) Atlantic Label.
The album spent 57 weeks in the top 10 and was only available with the Plum label for 12 weeks as Atlantic swapped to their new Green labels after this.
This copy has the so called 'version 3' labels. With Misty Mountain Hop incorrectly printed as 'Misty Mountain Top'.
The run-off shows true first pressing matrix numbers: A//3 B//3 along with PECKO DUCKY (side 1) & PORKY (side 2) in reference to British lacker and Mastering engineer George Peckham.
Also contains original lyric inner sleeve in the dark grey colour - replaced by a lighter version in later copies.
Sleeve: Very Good +
This is one of my favourite sleeves, and this is a great copy of it.
Still retains original colours with no scuffs or discolourations.
Graded VG+ as the corners are ever so slightly rounded and the spine shows some signs of wear but nothing else.
Nothing else noteworthy to add; no rips, writing or creases.
A nice sleeve to go in your collection.
Disc: Very Good +
If I like the sleeve then I love this record. The last two tracks on side 1 are a couple of my favourites.
This is a great copy to listen to them on.
Both sides play with excellent clarity, with very little background noise and no distortion.
There is excellent channel separation - Jimmy Page sounds fantastic throughout.
As is normally the case (in my experience) Side 2 is cleaner than Side 1. Naturally Side 1 gets played more.
There are two surface marks that cause 3 pops each - 1 on 'The Battle for Evermore' and 1 on 'Stairway to Heaven'. (They still sound fantastic, though, and when you are lost in the song you barely even notice them).
Otherwise only very light superficial surface marks caused by going in and out of the inner sleeve.
The labels are really clean, with minimal spindle wear and no writing.
A record that has been well looked after and that will be thoroughly enjoyed!
Inners: Good +
The inner on this record is notoriously difficult to keep in good shape.
As a result, it often gets swapped for the later light grey copy.
The inner has seen better days. All three sides have split and have been sellotaped.
The opening has also ripped but thankfully all the writing is in tact.
There is also 'LED ZEPPELIN" written on one side at the top.
Consequently I have kept the record in an audiophile quality, anti-static inner sleeve which is also provided.
This protects both the record and the inner sleeve.
Overall this is a really nice copy of an increasingly rare record that is extremely sought after. Here is your chance to get a copy!
The record is kept within a polythene outer sleeve and will be posted in a padded vinyl record mailer.
