LP: Lucky Thompson - A Lucky Songbook In Europe

German pressing on MPS/BASF, CRM 699, recorded March 13th 1969 at Tonstudio Villingen. Fully laminated gatefold-cover.

Thompson and Sadi had already played together 10 years earlier on the dope E.P. “BONGO JAZZ”, recorded in 1959 in Cologne and released on the BERTELSMANN label. This E.P. and the “...Songbook in Europe”-LP are considered by many to be L.Thompson's best works ever, maybe due to a hipper setting than usual. On the LP there's once again great bongo- & vibes-work by Sadi plus wonderful soprano-sax leads by Lucky T. Solid soloing also by the other members on a strong late-60ies bop- & souljazz-session, including 2 standards plus 5 tunes penned by L.Thompson. One of the rarer MPS releases...

Condition: the record looks and plays in mint- to mint--. The cover shows only very little shelfwear, all seams/spine are intact with slightest rub for a few mm only at the bottom; front, back & inner ar ereal fine, 2 corners of the front-part of the gatefold show minimal wear, the lamination is intact, overall ex++.

Zustand: die LP ist optisch & akkustisch in mint-/mint--. Das Cover hat nur ganz leichte Lagerspuren, alle Kanten sind intakt mit ganz leichtem Abrieb auf einige Millimetern an der unteren Kante ), Vorder- & Rückseite und Inneres sind schön erhalten, 2 Ecken haben auf der Vorderseite des Klappcovers leichten Abrieb, die Laminierung ist intakt; insgesamt in ex++.

Alle Platten wurden professionell gereinigt, entweder von mir (Hannl Mikro) oder von den Vorbesitzern (Okki Nokki, Loricraft o.Ä.). Anschließend wurden sie nur wenige Male abgespielt bzw. nur einmal von mir zum Bewerten angehört (komplett oder in Ausschnitten). Optische Bewertung erfolgt in Tageslicht, in normalen Kunstlicht & unter einer sehr hellen Halogenlampe. Platten kommen mit neuer hochwertiger Innenhülle & in einer Schutzhülle. Bitte beachten: auch prof. gereinigte Platten können einige Staubpartikel haben; “eingefangen” während optischer & akkustischer Bewertung, Fotografieren oder den wenigen Abspielungen der Vorbesitzer.

Grading & Cleaning:

• all records have been cleaned on a professional record cleaning machine, either by me (Hannl Mikro) or by the pre-owners (Okki Nokki, Loricraft or the like). After cleaning the records have been played just a few times (or only once by me for playgrading)

• I playgrade each record (completely or at least in parts) on my Rega Planar 9, high-end Moving Coil cartridge by EINSTEIN/ EMT TU-3 SFL (please consider that the playback might differ a bit depending on your own equipment)

• I also visually grade cleaned records in daylight, in normal artificial light & under a strong halogen lamp

• only an unplayed record is mint, my highest grading for a used record is mint- . My basic gradings are: mint – ex – vg

• cleaned records are stored in a new pro innersleeve and they are placed in a PVC protection-sleeve

• pl. note: even pro cleaned records may have received some dust particles during visual-/play-grading, photographing or few pre-owner playbacks
