This is an extraordinary copy of Zeppelin III. One that seldom rears its beautiful head ,if at all. To see an excellent copy of this in 2010 , some 40 years after its release, is absolutely astonishing as the labels are the rare plum/red Atlantic format!

Sleeve EX  !

Highly collectable wheel sleeve and is very near perfect. ( I can see no faults whatsoever except for slight damage to top edge 1cm where there is a rough feel to finger touch).

Famous visual creations with cut out holes to give an ever changing kaleidoscope of patterns . Visually very stimulating and is collectable in itself. Revolves from a central spindle inside the album sleeve. The lamination still retains its glossy appearance. Best sleeve I have seen for a long while. No feathering on outer edge.  Spine is very solid and square and clearly shows title. Running ones finger along the spinal column , the edges are unsplit and very smooth to the touch, confirming an excellent spine. All four corners are quite pointed showing no signs of wear. Edges are near perfect , confirming a light handled history for this magnificent gatefold sleeve.

There are two sleeves available for this release- the UK E J Day cover, which is the more common variant to find, than the rarer German sleeve. The E J Day track listings are situated on the right hand side of the gatefold-the German version has the text on the left. Serious Zep collectors will be interested in both types. This particular record has the RARER German printed gatefold and its excellent condition will prove difficult to match!

Lamination remains intact, with no creasing and it appears obvious that it has had very little use. Normally, these album sleeves peel and are cracked , and the rotating wheel is subject to disengagement and falls apart. This one is in perfect working order and still retains a pure white coloration. The die cut windows are distinct and precisely cut, and there are very few markings on any part of the sleeve. Heavens knows where this album has been for the last 34 years!! Beautiful album sleeve . Very collectable sleeve , excellent and is worth a fortune on its own.

Labels

In excellent+ condition . Only a limited number were pressed with the blatant Celebration ERROR and was soon rectified, so a rare discovery and highly collectable!They are without doubt ,very scarce FIRST issue Plum Atlantics, with a pure white stripe across middle of label. The deep , plum colour contrasts sharply with the bright unfaded orange !! Only a few spindle lines observed, , and the central hole is perfect and fits snugly around the spindle. Shows a very minimum playing history .

Vinyl

 Thickness of the vinyl and its heavyweight feel gives a buzz when held. Jet black vinyl , with only a couple of superficial  surface marks,  visible on either side, under ordinary light, otherwise appears virtually unmarked .So any record which has barely been played, especially a classic album like this one, is very rare and hard to find indeed. An awesome mirror like sheen reflects off the vinyl, and shows no groove wear what so ever .“  So mote it be” without “Do what thou wilt” in run offs ,making record truly unique ,intricately made and very collectable. Excellent visual!

Audio

Aural delivery is at least excellent for most of playback. (S2Tr2 there are a couple of inexplicable pops). Channels remain clear and tones are delivered in exceptional style. Track 4 appears to have 3 ultra faint ticks ,which are hardly noticeable, but you need to know, despite their inobtrusive nature. A beautiful delivery and one will be hard pressed to find a better example of this awesome rock classic.

Great tracks on this LP including “The Gallows Pole” where there is a quiet intro with soft acoustic guitar in background and there becomes a gradual build up into a heavy classic rock stomp which is played out in a phenomenal frenzy in stunning Zeppelin style.

Plant’s vocals blend superbly with the acoustic/electric guitars. The acoustic guitars strum so clearly that you can actually hear the squeak of the guitar strings as the fingers flick across them. All channels continually operate with a very sharp definition and as the rhythmic beat of the percussion blends with Plant’s shrill vocals, a mellow warmth is delivered  .  

This album begins to display the awesome talents of the group .At that time ,they were developing into the best heavy rock band worldwide ,and are yet to be superseded in talent to this very day.
