When Capitol Records released the debut solo album by a relatively unknown singer / songwriter named Larry Norman, they had no idea of the impact the record would have on popular culture. It didn't sell all that many copies at first, but it had a far-reaching effect that couldn't be measured by sales reports and royalty statements...


It was the shot heard 'round the world of Christian music culture. It galvanized a generation of young believers and gave birth to an entire industry. In short, it was one of the most important events in a burgeoning subculture that would grow to be a part of millions of people's lives and livelihoods.
The album was called "Upon This Rock" and it's considered to be "ground zero" in the exploding Christian Rock world of the early 1970s.
The item that's up for auction is an extremely important artifact. It's the VERY FIRST COPY of "Upon This Rock" that was ever pressed. A test pressing or "proof" that was closely examined and listened by Larry before he gave the go-ahead to put the vinyl album into production. A moment in history captured on a single vinyl disc.
We will even go so far as to say it's probably the most significant item in the history of the Christian Rock genre.
Hyperbole? We think not. History speaks for itself.

This record is from Larry Norman's private collection and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity from Solid Rock.
