Up for auction is the definitely rarest record out of my collection. A real Jazz artifact from the summer 1964.. the summer of the Harlem riots. I've neither found or seen another copy nor did I meet someone who has seen this before. This album contains live recordings from August 1964 of Kenny Dorham and his group which have been made during the Haryou-Act's Film And Sound Workshop.
Julian Euell btw was involved in the Haryou-Act projects from 1962 - 1966.

No tracklist is written on cover or on the label...
I assume that the live sessions issued later on XANADU 205 and Raretone 5021 could be these Haryou-Act recordings.

I decided to offer this album for auction, despite it's condition (please see description below!! and listen to the soundfiles recorded from this record before bidding!!) because it is really rare and should be interesting for Kenny Dorham collectors or Jazz collectors in general.

Julian Euell / Barry Harris / Al Heath Title: Haryou-Act Presents Jazz At P.S. 175 Category / Genre: Jazz Label / Nr.: Harlem Youth Unlimited Records Mono HYU 1001 Pressing: 1964 original US Pressing Format: LP (33 RPM) Vinyl Condition: The vinyl has a lot of surface marks / scratches / hairlines on both sides that are slightly audible as a constant clicking all through. For most parts not overpowering the music (please check out sound files too). Except for 3 long stronger visible surface scratches on side 1 it's not worth to mention single other marks/scratches... there are quite a lot (I assume that the vinyl was in use for some years without an inner sleeve).
In some parts (especially more on side 2) groove wear is audible as light distorsions of louder instruments like the trumpet in the 'Tin Tin Deo' soundfile (listen!).
In general the vinyl looks worse than it plays. No skips. Side 1 plays a bit better than side 2.
Pre-owners name written on both labels. Cover Condition: Corners and seams worn. Seam split (partially taped). Ring wear. Cover surface worn. Small writing on back (pre-owners name).
