Description
This is the original vinyl taken from the FREDDY FRESH Collection..
Many of these are actually MID-School records and not old school as they are from the mid-late 1980's but i'm trying not to get too technical..
Most of you cats are down with hip hop and know what time it is so I don't have to spell it out for yall
All vinyl is 100% guaranteed to be ORIGINAL and NOT A REISSUE
Some of the dopest and most impossible to find RANDOM RAP/ ELECTRO records are about to be auctioned so stay tuned!!
Forgive our scanner as its defected so the photos look terrible.. but in most cases (unless mentioned) the records and labels are MINT and most have
This is Your chance to grabthe complete collection of the following Extremely Rare set of
ULTIMATE BREAKS & BEAT Volumes 1 through 25
Street Beat Records Bronx New York 1986-
This collection contains ultra and mega obscure FUNK, SOUL, DISCO, ROCK jams in their ORIGINAL FORM, these are the songs as played by the original artists. The point of this collection was to provide DJ's and Producers access to mega rare jams in order for them to scratch and sample the "BREAK" or the part of the song where the instruments kicked in and the drums would rock... This is what is called the "Break" of the song.. hence the name Ultimate Breaks and Beats. If you are bidding on this ORIGINAL ISSUE SET then you are aware of what it is. The founder of this label was "Breakbeat" Lenny Roberts (whose business card is shown here), Lenny ran his offices from his home and later from the upstairs offices at S.O.S. / DJ Specialty Store on Castle Hill Ave. in The Bronx and later from his Pugsley offices. As a young man I hounded this man for Breakbeat "knowledge" and spent many a long hour in his offices. I'm including the HELL RARE
and Long deleted volumes 7 & 8 (8 being practically NON existant.) The story goes that the master plates cracked and hence Volume 8 was limited to the first run only. While in the Bronx Lenny personally took me to Harmony Music as he knew that a volume 8 remained on the shelves in 1986 and he personally handed me this copy. I'm only including them to make this set COMPLETE. There is no way one cannot appreciate the absolute magnitude of buying this complete set of 25 FULL LENGTH ALBUMS. Containing over 170 songs (some repeted). One can only appreciate the absolute magnitude of such a collection. You will instantly have the original source material for rappers like Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Ultra Magnetic, MC Ez, Jungle Brothers, Biz Markie, Marley Marl, Chuck Chillout, Red Alert.. and the list goes on infinitely... (Or imagine having the source material for tracks like Big Daddy Kane's - Ain't No Half Steppin Remix (Blind Alley was the sample he used on that and it is here in this series) (The list is endless and any hip hop freak or producer will instantly recognize and say "That's where that sample came from.... etc.. etc..) If you are an upcoming artist, MC, Beatmaker, Producer or just connoisseur of excellent funk, soul and disco or rock rarities they are ALL here and Lenny has done the years and years of beat diggin' for you.. God rest his soul as he left us years back.
The first few volumes of this series were originally released with pictures of OCTOPUSES on the labels.
This collection comes in generic sleeves or some listed with the Street Beat emblems.
Keep a copy of the title list below as NONE of the volumes contain the original artists names on them (If you email me I will tell you why this is so)...
I'm selliong 22 years of my lifes history with this IRREPLACABLE COLLECTION. I could have put volume 8 alone as a seperate auction although I'm CERTAIN that some of you who "know what the deal is" will bid on this entire collection JUST TO OBTAIN THIS LEGENDARY RARITY. And YES it is the ORIGINAL ISSUE OF VOLUME 8 and NOT A BOOTLEGGED VERSION or an incorrect version being sold all over the internet (that is why you will notice that my tracklisting is different from those sold on the internet)> Bear in mind that every conceivable jam as played by Kool DJ Herc, Grandmaster Flash, Afrikka Bambaataa are contained within these volumes. Street jams that were played in the early 1970s in the parks of the South Bronx or in the Bronx River Projects in Bam's neighborhood are ALL HERE.
You can enjoy them as songs (Most in Nr. Mint condition a few pops and crackles (some of these rarities were mastered from vinyl hence the source material was scratchy as well) but none in Poor or just good shape).. Or as I mentioned you can use them to sample the many obscure impossible to locate in their original form accapellas, Breakbeats, Horn Riffs.. The possibilities are limitless.
Be warned that this will be expensive to ship overseas. But bearing that in mind have you ever seen a complete set of ULTIMATE BREAKS AN BEATS with the RAREST Volumes (#7 and #8 included)???? (Volume 8 is excellent to Nr. Mint and Volume 7 is Nr. Mint to Mint (I'd say Mint honestly) #501/503/504/506/512/ have label markings written on them.. Volumes 513 / 516 / 517 / 519 / 520 have ORIGINAL DOPE GRAFFITI DESIGNS (the trademark for this Boogie Down Bronx Label) (#517 is a PROMO COPY)
Every Breakbeat producer worth his salt has the entire collection, Fat Boy Slim (we went thru his collection while in his studio in England).. , Krafty Kuts, not to mention all the many producers, Prince Paul, Tony D etc.. uses these. They are ESSENTIAL!!!!!
Imagine how much you would have to pay to find each one of these records in their original form of 7" 45 single or album cut, 12" single etc..??
For the "real" and accurate version of the history of this label look for the article by Andrew Mason in Wax Poetics debut issue. The internet is full of misinformation such as Wikki stating Loius Flores started this label. I met the man and he did the edits for the label to extend the "break" portions of the songs. This was Lenny Roberts label NO QUESTION. Also there exist volumes on the internet that I personally have not seen and do not think were affiliated with lenny's labels. Not to mention that today people continue the tradition of this label with 45 singles and new LPs that have NOTHING to do with founder Lenny Roberts. (But are cool records based on the series)
THIS IS THE REAL DEAL as far as getting the series CORRECT and with the original records seeing as I have owned them for 21 years now.
