An original 1st issue of CLOSER on FACTORY records. Matrix A1/B1 - 1st cut. Etching 'Old Blue?'. Remember, there were red vinyl copies right at 1st issue - you might like to call these the very 1st copies. But this black version is a genuine 1st issue from whilst the album charted. If you need a show stopping copy - you want to pay close attention to this example. For starters - take a quick look at other 1st copies on-line...then come back and take a "closer" look at this example. Not many will be looking like this after 40+ years! In fact - I would argue this copy is close on impossible to replicate. The vinyl comes housed in a genuine 1st issue textured paper cover. There's the original textured inner with square corners too [it mentions Garrod & Lofthouse]. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex) A super looking copy which has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out, a couple of lightest marks, and one tiny scuffing patch at the start of track 4. Nothing heavy though or nasty. Fully tested - nothing nasty affecting the audio. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros are beautifully quiet and the audio comes across with superb clarity. Impressively clean signalled. You can tell straight away you're dealing with a copy coming straight off the back of those original masters. It just has super clarity and is very revealing. Little to take issue with here. It's got the energy and attack spot on. And it is adept enough to deliver the quieter moody moments clean with maximum atmosphere. Hardly any background. All I could detect was a couple of ticks in a couple of spots during 'Eternal', and a couple of isolated crackles too [which otherwise plays great]. And, then, one louder click in the final second of Atrocity [i.e. literally just as the audio cuts out]. That is a very good strike rate indeed. A clean player across both sides is a revelation for audio. Highly recommended.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Ok, well let's start off with some basic math. You can certainly find nice original playing copies - they will be out there. But I seriously doubt you will ever manage to find a cover that could even get close to this example. It would be an extremely long shot. Take a look out there - NONE of them will look like this. The photos do not lie - no bleaching effects. What you see, here, is a perfectly white cover - and it is as close to perfectly white as you are ever gonna find. Even if you managed to find an unaged cover - the white textured surfaces are hellishly difficult to keep clean. This copy has nothing more than a couple of very superficial/small signs of handling. No creasing either. I have certainly never held a better looking copy. No edge wear and sharp openings. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. FINAL UPGRADE.
Inner (Ex/Ex+) Remarkable. Unaged. No splits. No markings. Pretty much perfect.
