Description
An original 1st issue of the DEBUT on Silvertone from 1989. Not necessarily a day-of-release copy but would have been available for purchase as the album initially flirted with the charts - summer 1989. And to this day I'll never know why it didn't chart higher. What a master piece. And this will be one of the hardest records to part with because a)This is possibly my all time favourite and b)The preservation level is otherworldly. If you're looking for an all-time top-of-the-line world beater...you came a knock'in at the right door.
Matrix A2/B2 - 1st cut. Etchings 88-8/89-8. White labels with Silver 'Silvertone'. Reasonably decent pressing weight - I've seen worse at 1st issue. "EEC" mentioned on the labels. The vinyl comes housed in an original EEC non-embossed cover. Both variations were available at 1st issue. I'm not interested in discussing which came first - the chicken or the egg! There's also the bespoke inner sleeve too. So, we're 100% genuine and 100% complete. At first sight I did struggle to accept this was a 1989 copy because it is so well preserved. But then it dawned on me...this is the REAL DEAL.
Vinyl (Ex+) In beautiful condition - I've seen a couple of corkers in my time. But this copy takes the biscuit. Absolutely pristine surfaces with just a couple of ultra-fine marks per side. Nothing that will get remotely near the audio. Why is this so important on this release? Well, there are lot of low-key passages on this title. Think, the low-rumblings of the 'Adored' intro and plenty of acoustic moments. A lot of the class in this record comes from it's broody atmospheric moments. If you've got background in the mix - it starts to distract and takes away from what is an absolute cult classic. VERY few copies are gonna to manage to stay perfectly quiet all the way through - that's just basic maths/probability. BUT - this copy - can deliver a near perfect rendition. Never seen better - never heard better. It's the definitive cut. Which makes it all the harder to part with. You might detect a couple of very slight crackles in a couple of isolated moments per side. I also detected two very light ticks right at the start of the bass-line intro to Adored [hardly worth mentioning - but it is just audible]. But be reassured that this copy will play at Ex+ consistently. I very rarely give out an Ex+ on a vintage record - so this no throw-away grading. This copy is stellar and would be very hard to re-source. FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex+) Truly unbelievable. As I said above - my first instinct was.. this can't be from 1989...but it is. The front is perfect - shiny, flat, uncreased... literally like it came straight from the printers. There's not even any edge wear to those black edge lines...never seen that before. On 9 out of 10 copies the rear will show a bit of surface wear to those black areas. But this copy is near perfect. Just one microscopic borderline invisible patch of wear. Surfaces perfectly clean and smooth. There's practically no edge wear at all - very unusual. The openings are Day 1 sharp! Corners are all still nice and pointy. No hidden bends or creases. The spine is 100% perfect with no wear or ageing. ha amazing! Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. FINAL UPGRADE no sweat.
Inner (Ex+) Absolute perfection. We will not ship in the inner. Far to risky!
