Description

This is the original Van Gelder-stamped “P”-pressing of Jackie McLean “Right Now” on the Plastylite labels of Blue Note BLP 4215. What makes this test pressing unique is the presence of the “P”, which never appeared on commercial issues. (In 1966 Blue Note was purchased by Liberty Records, but this McLean session had been recorded in 1965 during the Plastylite era. Since by the time “Right Now” was issued, Blue Note had a different pressing plant, the name “Plastylite” had to be crossed off any remaining earlier parts.) Side 1 has three inaudible handling marks/scuffs; Side 2 is in near-new condition; both sides have a high luster; perhaps played once or twice. No cover, as issued.
