RARE ORIGINAL UK RELEASE and WITHDRAWN 1ST COVER!
Jimi was honouring his earlier contract as signed with Ed Chalpin when he was playing in Curtis Knight's backing band. Good foresight from Chalpin one might say, but Jimi's management was a little upset to have to basically give any recording to someone else at the very height of his considerable fame!
So, with old US Army pal Billy Cox and Electric Flag buddy Buddy Miles, he booked a couple of nights at The FILMORE EAST and demonstrated his ample abilities for the luck audience attending- recorded for this great album!
He was an enigma - a brief shooting star - and this was on the tails of Electric Ladyland, making it his last LP officially recorded for release.
On TRACK in the UK, it got packaged in a strange and wonderful sleeve which Hendrix didn't approve (again, since the first Ladyland LP cover wasn't to his taste either) - thus his objection was upheld and this got suddenly withdrawn as quickly as it was released - making this original issue a rarity from his catalogue.
Here is the first pressing too, with A-1/B-1 stamped numbers!
The vinyl is NM-, full shine!
The Lables grade NM condition, clean matt paper and silver text.
Single-sleeve Cover is VG++ due to a couple of creases from handling, spine is clean and solid, seams barely any sign of wear, clean and bright card.
