Another from my personal collection! The vinyl has always been stored seperately from the cover in a case for protection for over 45 years! This is how I have always stored my records! Extreemely rare to find a copy in this awesome condition! Barely ever played vinyl, no more than a hand ful of times ever! Unbeleivably rare to find like this! Bo Diddley was a long five years ahead of his real time. A listen to any single band on this album will convince the listener or dancer that 3o's impassioned vocalising and guitar playing sound even better on todays vocals or instrumentals than they did even at the high point of rock 'n roll!

The primary reason for this extension of Bo's popularity as a vocalist and a great exponent of torrid amplified guitar plucking is the fact that Bo contributes so much of his own individual creativity to any music he sings or plays. Just as he set a trend on the rock 'n roll era with his very unusual and inventive use of the amplified guitar, he's advanced greatly musically in the last half-decade. Not only has he toured thousands of miles every year playing for rabid fans all over the U.S.A., but he's become the name among innovators of the amplified guitar. Those who have seen Bo in person know he trots out a wild array of amplified guitars shaped in all manners and forms of the musical gourd. And those distinctive sounds are his and only his trade mark!

Bo Diddley, was an American rhythm and blues vocalist, guitarist, songwriter (usually as Ellas McDaniel), and inventor. He was also known as "The Originator" because of his key role in the transition from the blues to rock & roll, influencing a host of acts including Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, The Velvet Underground, The Who, The Clash, The Yardbirds, and Eric Clapton!

 He introduced more insistent, driving rhythms and a hard-edged guitar sound on a wide-ranging catalog of songs. Accordingly, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received Lifetime Achievement Awards from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation and a Grammy Award from the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. He was known in particular for his technical innovations, including his trademark rectangular guitar.

Born in McComb, Mississippi, as Ellas Otha Bates, he was adopted and raised by his mother's cousin, Gussie McDaniel, whose surname he assumed, becoming Ellas McDaniel. In 1934, the McDaniel family moved to the largely black South Side area of Chicago, where the young man dropped the name Otha and became known as Ellas McDaniel, until his musical ambitions demanded that he take on a more catchy identity!

 In Chicago, he was an active member of his local Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he studied the trombone and the violin, becoming proficient enough on the latter for the musical director to invite him to join the orchestra, with which he performed until the age of 18. He was more impressed, however, by the pulsating, rhythmic music he heard at a local Pentecostal Church, as well as an interest in the guitar. Inspired by a concert where he saw John Lee Hooker perform, he supplemented his work as a carpenter and mechanic with a developing career playing on street corners with friends, including Jerome Green (c. 1934–1973), in a band called The Hipsters (later The Langley Avenue Jive Cats). During the summer of 1943–44, he played for tips at the Maxwell Street market in a band with Earl Hooker!.

 By 1951 he was playing on the street with backing from Roosevelt Jackson (on washtub bass) and Jody Williams (whom he had taught to play the guitar). Williams later played lead guitar on "Who Do You Love?" (1956). In 1951 he landed a regular spot at the 708 Club on Chicago's South Side, with a repertoire influenced by Louis Jordan, John Lee Hooker, and Muddy Waters. In late 1954, he teamed up with harmonica player Billy Boy Arnold, drummer Clifton James, and bass player Roosevelt Jackson, and recorded demos of "I'm A Man" and "Bo Diddley". They re-recorded the songs at Chess Studios with a backing ensemble comprising Otis Spann (piano), Lester Davenport (harmonica), Frank Kirkland (drums), and Jerome Green (maracas). The record was released in March 1955, and the A-side, "Bo Diddley", became a #1 R&B hit!

The Vinyl

This vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warping! This is the original thick ,heavy and chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest pressings! On initial inspection the vinyl gleems like a new vinyl! It is hard for me to even see a blemish on the playing surface! Only if looked at under a strong light could any marks possibly be seen! perhapes the odd suface scuff or sleeve removal only! I must emphisize that I can't see any needle or audio sounding marks at all! At least no marks that would cause any loud clicks or pops!

The Audio Quality!

I played this vinyl two times prior to this listing , at very loud volume on a top system,,importantly, using a dedicated mono cartridge! From the moment that the needle hit the vinyl it is obvious to me that this vinyl has barely ever been played at all! The audio is absolutely cristal clear and very vibrant throughout! No distortion or signs that this has been over played at all! I heard no loud clicks or pops any static/tick was isolated and thid would definately benefit from a constant clean before each play! Absolutely stunning sound for a 50 year old vinyl!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! Please allow for minor isolated static/tick not constant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a 50 year old vinyl that would have originaly been played on a 50 year old system!

This vinyl has been stored in a case laying dormant for over 45 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static crackle and ticks. A constant clean before each play is recomended! This will reduce this static and enhance the audio quality!

The Record Sleeve.

This is a plain white poly lined sleeve no splits or tares!

The Cover.

This is the original Garrod & Lofthouse Laminated front only flip back cover! This is in tip top condition! There are no splits or tares! Very very clean indeed! Super glossy in appearence! Any creases are very small only in the laminate mainly at the spine  and barely noticed unless looked for in my opinion! Amaizingly it is hard to see any ringware so often seen on these! The spine is superbe all text can be seen clearly! The rear is exceptionaly clean indeed! (see photos) This cover must grade at least excellent plus in my opinion!
