Description
Published in 1977 on the Sain label, this recording signalled Meic's return from a self imposed two year seclusion in Brittany. It is well documented that he had become disillusioned with music, and life in general, and spent a productive time in western France to recharge his batteries.
The outcome is so apparent in this recording as he launched a new era of his music in his homeland that had fans enchanted by his fresh approach to basic and simple folk music, with the odd alternative track thrown in. The French influence is apparent in some of the tracks.
The cover has always attracted interesting interpretations as you see the devil playing chess in the background. The lady is Gwenllian, his partner at the time, to whom a beautiful track is dedicated to in the second song.
The musical support on this album is significant as Meic chooses his ever reliable entourage of session musicians with Hefin Elis on keyboards (who went on to play in Injaroc and Edward H.Dafis) and two delectable backing vocalists in Sioned Mair and Caryl Parry Jones (former members of Sidan and future stars of the TV and recording industy in Wales).
