**FRANK ZAPPA**
**LUMPY GRAVY MONO**
**ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING 1968 VERVE UK MONO LP VLP 9223 IN GATEFOLD LAMINATED FLIPBACK COVER**
CONDITION....RECORD....EXCELLENT (EX)....COVER....EXCELLENT (EX) (SEE BELOW)
MATRIX NUMBERS....V 8741A-1 / V 8741B-1 FIRST PRESSING
STAMPING CODES...G1 / G1 (This shows the LP to have been within the first few, pressed from the original Mother!)
This is by far the rarest UK Zappa LP! This is highly desirable for the main reason that it never got issued in mono in the states. The UK mono LP features a completely different mix to the stereo version. It has been unavailable, officially, in the mono format since 1968. The record in the UK did not sell well at a time when mono LPs were being phased out. This is one extremely hard to find record. The nicest thing here is the condition of both the record and cover, plus the sound quality is all brilliant. When this record usually shows up, it is never in this good a condition. Do not miss out!
The Cover....The cover is in great condition. This is the original flipback mono VLP 9223 gatefold sleeve. One of the most famous covers from the late sixties. A great example with lovely, shiny lamination, with nice, thick, wide spine. The inside of the cover is brilliant and white. There are no tears, writing or seem splits. The cover grades a superb Excellent condition. You would have great difficulty finding better. A mega-rare sleeve in mono!
The Record....The record is also in great shape. It still has it's natural gloss. The sound quality is superb throughout, and the mono mix is wonderful, clear and sharp. Under strong, unshaded light, a couple of fine, light surface markings only. I will grade this as Excellent, but I guarantee most would have graded this higher. Incredibly rare in this true Excellent condition! Don't miss out on this great example, that will please a serious collector.
The Labels....Both labels are in exceptional condition, graded Near Mint. There are no tears, stickers or writing. These are the original black Verve labels, with the "Sold in the UK" text that was dropped shortly after the release of this LP. Both labels are stunning examples that show a well loved record.
The Inner Sleeve....The record is housed in it's original plain white "Patent Number" inner sleeve that is also in superb condition, that has had very little handling (always a good sign of quality).
We use the UK grading system E.G. VG / EX / MINT. We also use + and - if there are slight differences between the grades.
**All Records are sent out in plastic covers with the record placed out of the front cover to prevent the cover from getting knifed. All records are sent out in strong mailers with added protection to make sure that they reach you in the condition that they leave here in.**
**For each record or item sent out I will fill out a separate Proof of Postage slip that is date stamped with the address of the destination of the parcel. Insurance will cost extra and is highly recommended, I will not be responsible if this is not taken for items lost in the post. I also will not send to France unless registered postage is taken as it seems the postal system in France is very poor will parcels getting stolen. It is not just me that has had this problem but my friends that also sell.**
**Please note if you cannot make payment within 20 days of the auction ending please do not bid as the number of non paying bidders seems to be on the increase. If there are any problems with sending payment i.e - you going on holiday - please let me know. I will provide my best service at all times. If payment has not reached me within the 20 days of the auction ending the item will be relisted or sold elsewhere. I am not into giving negative feedback as I feel that this is a childish feature and not my style. It seems some people on this auction site are Trigger Happy with this feature. Check out my feedback. Thank you to most of the customers that I have dealt with in the past two years who know the score.**
** Please read this - If you have been buying from some dealers on ebay who continue to sell records that have been altered or have stickers placed over writing to hide damage, or selling in a much lesser condition than stated;- I would rather sell the record in it's original state, than cut out pieces of paper to hide the truth. I am also against skimming, steaming and other dirty tricks. I will playgrade all records and do all grading under a 100 watt light bulb, which shows the truth. I will continue to place quality items on ebay as I want to build up my customer base. The only things that I want to come back are customers, not records. Thank You.**
All records are visually graded, and playgraded on sound equipment.
