Description
Edison Diamond Disc Record - CIVIL WAR MASSA IN DE COLD, COLD GROUND
The Edison Disc, also known as a "Diamond Disc Record", was a type of audio disc record marketed by Edison Records from 1912 to 1929. This 80 rpm, 1/4" thick, 10" diameter record is #80727 with recordings: "MASSA'S IN DE COLD, COLD GROUND (Stephen C. Foster) Losey's Instrumental Quartet" and "FORGOTTEN (Eugene Cowles) Losey's Instrumental Quartet".
This is an exceptional record, as Stephen Foster was not simply a great song writer/composer, but was a fervent Union war supporter and Civil War poet!
The record's dust cover exhibits a fair amount of vintage wear; nevertheless, it seems to have performed a job well done by protecting its valuable content. We don't have an ability to play the record to test for quality; however, by all physical appearances the album seems to remain in very good condition, having minimal wear.
Please carefully review the pics. If you have any questions, please direct us on how we can best identify the answer you're looking for (prior to bidding) so that you're completely satisfied with your evaluation, as this nostalgic Edison Diamond Disc Record is being sold in "as is" vintage condition.
Payment should be made within 3 business days (M-F) at the end of the auction. Please contact us if you are not able to meet this requirement.
Please Note: The current eBay policy is that a seller is no longer allowed to "require" insurance for any item. However, we do purchase shipping insurance for ALL international sales, and that cost has been included in your calculated total. On domestic items, we still recommend you insure every purchase - be it from us or any other seller...it just makes doing business on eBay a happier and safer environment for us all.
Our commitment to you is to ship within two (2) business days (M-F) upon payment confirmation receipt; however, depending on circumstances, it may take up to 5-7 days. If you need it shipped sooner, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate.
Most of our items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage. We will take as many pictures as you need to ensure you are pleased upon receiving your item.
All sales are final unless otherwise stated in the listing, so please make sure your questions are answered to your satisfaction before you purchase. Thank You.
Although our first love is antiques, we do offer many non-vintage items such as genuine art and unique collectibles. As private collectors ourselves, we are constantly on the lookout for historical oddities, authentic artwork, or anything unique and/or eclectic. If you are looking for the unusual but can't find it, feel free to contact us - as we probably have it and would be willing to sell so we can make room in our home to display some new treasure!
If you have any questions or would like some additional photos, we will do what we can to give you as many details as needed to help you make your decision. Feel free to e-mail us at: gypsyslair@comcast.net
