Description

This super-rare 1975 independent pressing from the mysterious "Esper" is still in excellent, barely-played condition. The album cover of this lo-fi psychedelic freeform noise tribute to marijuana is covered in pot references and strange drawings that look like they were scrawled on a notebook in math class. It was released on the artist's own Sonic Head label of Greenbelt, Maryland (a fitting name for Esper's hometown). The back cover quite bluntly reads, "A sonic sound spectacular, "Home Grown" is intended to be listened to while stoned. It is designed to give the listener a multiplicity of rushes". The record is full of weird noises, clanging sounds, treated vocals, stereo crossfades, and I am certain I heard recorded bong hits. I am also certain Esper must have acquired an Echoplex just prior to the recording of this album. This LP is used. The cover shows minor wear, but no serious damage. The vinyl is in excellent shape with no deep scratches, warping or other flaws. It looks like it was only played a few times, at most. I did notice a minor pressing flaw...some tiny indentions in the surface of side 2 (sorry, "Other Side"). There are three on the grooves, the rest are on the inner ring (see the last photo for details).
