Elvis Presley – Elvis Regresa
Very rare original 1960 Cuban issue of the Elvis is back! album, issued on RCA Victor Internacional, catalogue number LPD-544. This record was imported in limited quantities to Poland which at the time was ruled by the communist regime. It’s very hard to find a copy in playable condition as most of them were played to death by the rock’n’roll hungry Polish audience.
White label; mono recording.
Record condition:
visual: Looks astonishingly well, with a minimal amount of superficial surface marks. The vinyl is generally clean and has a nice sheen to it. Gradable as VERY GOOD PLUS if not EXCELLENT.
playback: Plays very well for a 56 year old Cuban record. There is a small amount of surface hiss in some places but it may very well be due to the pressing quality. The music is loud and clear and this is a good sounding pressing. Finding a better copy would be a challenge. Conservatively, I would give it a VERY GOOD PLUS grade.
Cover condition:
The thick, crude cardboard cover shows obvious signs of wear – see photos. The seams were split as it happens with 95% of Cuban records of similar vintage and rather professionally repaired with paper from the inside. The back is embedded with dirt and there is a small amount of writing including the original Polish retail price of 120z?. Grade: GOOD to GOOD PLUS.
