Up for bids is a super rare RCA Victor Compact single 33rpm by ELVIS PRESLEY with the Jordanaires released in 1961, this auction is for the record only, there is no picture sleeve. The vinyl is in very good very good condition, with scratches and surface marks, the label is in very good condition with spindle wear. In 1961, RCA Victor Records released Lonely Man b/w Surrender on compact 33rpm. The prefix (37) denotes compact 33rpm. The catalog (7850) is identical to the relatively common counterpart release as a 45rpm (47-7850). This release was part of an industry-wide attempt to establish a one-speed record market which began in 1960 with anticipation to phase out the 45rpm. In 1961, 45rpm record sales were climbing at a record pace, and the lack of inexpensive automatic 33-speed record players discouraged the promotion of the compact 33rpm.
