Description

This is an original early 1960s Korean pressing of Elvis' G.I. Blues soundtrack LP, on the Midopa label, LM 1-38 (label) or LM.12113 (cover). These Korean pressings are impossibly rare and highly collectible. Very few were pressed and even fewer survive. The Korean pressings are similar to the Taiwanese pressings, in that they are not necessarily "legitimate", and are pressed on very low quality vinyl with poor equipment, and the covers are flimsy paper with photocopied cheap artwork. They are almost always in poor condition when you find them today. But they are so rare... anyhow this copy is fairly worn, but plays fine with background crackle. The music is still loud and clear, but you can listen to a nice RCA copy if you want to enjoy the music. These pressings sounded crackly even when they were new. Anyhow the paper cover was issued in a plastic covering, and is reasonably well intact. There is some fading and some spotting, as well as a clipped corner at the lower left, with the other three being somewhat bent. Still overall this is a pretty good copy, compared to other Korean pressings I have seen. Actually I have never come across another G.I. Blues but I have seen a handful of other Elvis records from Korea that were all in worse shape than this one. Slightly rugh but still enjoyable, and rare...
