Offering this rare label Dexter Gordon LP......Dootone Modern Jazz Series LP AUL-207 "Dexter Gordon Blows Hot and Cool".As we know, Dootone was Dootsie Williams' great vanity label that usually dealt with 'party' discs by Redd Foxx and others, but Dootone also released a few very nice mainstream discs during its' lifetime. This is one of those. This set offers Dexter Gordon and his Allstars on Authentic Jazz' debut disc supervised by Dootie himself.
The Allstars in this case are: Carl Perkins on piano, Leroy Vinnegar on bass, Chuck Thompson on drums and Jimmy Robinson on trumpet.
The cuts are: 'Silver Plated', 'Cry Me A River', 'Rhythm Mad', 'Don't Worry About Me', 'I Hear Music', 'Bonna Rue', 'I Should Care', 'Blowin' For Dootsie', and 'Tenderly'.
The good news......the disc has been played by myself and graded to a high VG+....it is spotless and pristine.
The bad news.....the jacket absolutely sucks. It was evidently stored somewhere very very damp and has water warp damage and staining....though no rips or splits. I apologize for the jacket and sleeve condition and have down-priced this set because of that. I do guarntee the vinyl's condition nonetheless.
This is overall a great piece at a very good price.
