Description
DOBIE GRAY -- Look! -- original 1963 U.S. album. Insanely rare first album by Northern Soul/R&B/Rock legend Gray ("The In Crowd," "Drift Away") which is impossible to find in any condition let alone beautiful shape like this. Terrific mix of uptempo Northern Soul-R&B numbers like the irresistible "Young Boy," "Delia" and "You Can't Fool Me" w/ slower Sam Cooke-style ballads; a number of these tracks have never been reissued to my knowledge and are only available on the original vinyl LP. This was released on the obscure Stripe Records label out of Hollywood to capitalize on the success of Gray's first breakout single "Look At Me" in 1963. although strangely they failed to include that song on the LP (go figure!) The album sold very poorly, and copies are extremely hard to come by. See photos for track listing. Cover: VG+++, wear at lower right corner, still in shrink wrap.
