I took the summer off from selling vinyl, but now I am back! For those that may have missed out earlier this year, I am continuing to sell off much of my personal collection of vinyl during the next couple of months. All records have been well cared for over the years, and the majority of them were purchased new. Keep an eye out for listings of RARE PUNK, Hardcore, Finnish Hardcore and other Indie releases from the 1980’s and early 1990’s.

C.I.A. – RARE God, Guts, Guns 6 Song 7” EP Schmegma Records

EXTREMELY RARE, ONLY PRESSING of the C.I.A. God, Guts, Guns 6 Song EP on Schmegma Records, released in 1983. This is the Genuine ORIGINAL PRESSING. I am the original owner of this record, and bought it brand new at a local record store when it was released.

There were only 500 copies of this record pressed, and this copy is in near perfect condition. It includes the original insert as pictured, as well as a protective plastic sleeve (which the record has been in since purchased new).

Great hardcore band from Connecticut.

GRADING SCALE

This grading scale is based upon the Goldmine standard for grading of vinyl records, but has been slightly modified to reflect some of the unique characteristics that are common with collecting Independent Label releases, and early Punk / Hardcore records. These types of records tended to vary greatly in the quality of the pressings, even when brand new. It was not uncommon to have a brand new record have superficial “scuffs” on the record due to the quality of the pressing plant where the record was pressed. I don’t know if it was how they were handled when being packaged, but this seems to be common with some records. It is my hope that this grading scale accurately reflects the quality of the record that I am selling so that you, the bidder, are clear in the condition of the record you are bidding on.

SS (Still Sealed) – Factory sealed and never opened. Disc is assumed to be undamaged and mint, but this cannot be proven until the album is opened and the disc examined.

M (Mint) - Perfection, no flaws, defects, marks or otherwise indications of being handled or played. The cover has no corner dings, marks, tears, dents, impressions from the disc, or other flaws. The consensus in many record collecting circles seems to be that few, if any records ever get graded as Mint. In my experience with Indie / Punk pressings, even when they were brand new, just opened, many would not meet the requirements of Mint.  

NM (Near Mint) - This is highest I will grade a record that I am selling, unless it is still sealed. If a record makes this grade, it is nearly flawless. The vinyl is bright and shiny. A very minor, barely visible scuff or two may be present, but no scratches. The disc should play with no audible noise. The label is bright, clean and unmarked. The cover may have very minor signs of wear or cover impressions. These impressions are unavoidable for some records that use thin card stock for the covers, and which have been in my collection for 15 – 20+ years. Inserts are as close to perfect as possible. Many records that I will list have never been played since being purchased new, but due to the fact that they have been handled in my collection, and the fact that many are independent pressings, they do not qualify for the grade of Mint. Records such as these will be graded NM, UNPLAYED.

EX (Excellent) - Disc plays near perfectly, but may have minor paper scuffs that do not interfere with the sound quality. There can possibly be a hairline scratch or two but nothing that is obvious or affects play. Vinyl is bright and shiny; label is clean and unmarked. The cover may have minor disc impression (ring wear) or slight corner creases, no wrinkles, puckers, seam splits or writing on the cover. Artwork is clean and unworn and there are no marks from ink pens, etc.

VG+ (Very Good Plus) – Shows some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. Picture sleeves and LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold as a “Cut-out”.

VG (Very Good) – Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. There will be no skips. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. The vinyl will start to appear more dull. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them. The covers will, in general appear to be worn and used. Seams may be split, or may have been repaired with clear tape.

VG- (Very Good Minus) – This is for records that are not quite good enough to be VG, but are not to the point of being graded as Good. May have a single, or two, heavy scratches in a portion of the record that makes it play rough in that area, but otherwise the rest of the record is approaching the VG status. The cover may have some more extreme wear, and significant seam wear or splits that affect the printing on the spine, but do not affect the integrity of the cover jacket.

G (Good) – Good does not mean bad! A record in Good condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear. The cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.

I visually grade all of my records, but when there is a questionable record, I will play grade it to see what is an accurate grading for the record. It is my intent to accurately represent the quality of the record you are bidding on.

Return Policy

If you receive a record that you are not satisfied with based upon the condition of the record, and feel that the grading listed in the auction does not meet what you were expecting, I will accept a return with the following conditions:

• You must contact me within 2 days, via email, of receiving the record to notify me of your concerns. For domestic purchases, the 2 day window will begin on the date indicated by the US Postal Service delivery confirmation notice. For international shipments, the 2 day window will begin after the maximum time for delivery to your country has passed, typically 7 to 10 days after I mail the item.

• After I receive your email, and we agree that you are not satisfied with the condition of the record as listed due to the physical condition of the record, I will instruct you to return the record to me.

• Once I receive the record and verify that it is in the same condition as I sent it to you, I will refund the purchase price minus shipping costs. IF THE RECORD IS TO BE RETURNED, YOU MUST RETURN IT IN THE SAME CONDITION THAT I SENT IT TO YOU. PLEASE SEND IT BACK IN THE SAME MAILER I USED, OR A NEW CARDBOARD MAILER SIMILAR TO WHAT THE RECORD WAS SENT TO YOU IN. I WILL NOT REFUND THE PURCHASE IF IT IS SENT BACK IN A METHOD THAT RESULTS IN DAMAGE TO THE RECORD.

• THERE ARE NO REFUNDS ON PURCHASES BECAUSE YOU DO NOT LIKE THE RECORD.

• ALSO, THERE ARE NO REFUNDS FOR RECORDS DAMAGED IN TRANSIT. I WILL CAREFULLY PACK ALL RECORDS IN CARDBOARD MAILERS, AND I OFFER OPTIONAL INSURANCE FOR ALL ITEMS. The value of the insurance is limited, but because of the added handling and signature requirements, this helps to insure that the item arrives to you safely. Additionally, all records are shipped with plastic outer protective sleeves and plain white inner sleeves are added when the records original inner sleeve is a printed insert of some type (to protect the inner sleeve from splits, etc during transit).
