Description
Probably one of the rarest psychedelic/ garage sets ever produced.
In October 1989 Moxie records gathered together in one box set the first ten volumes in their Boulders collection of rare garage/ psych tracks. The original albums were all issued in runs of under 1,000 with the exception of volume 1, so they're all pretty rare anyway.
This box set, to commemorate the Moxie tenth anniversery, was issued in a run of ONLY 100 Numbered copies. Additionally, all of the ten volumes were pressed on coloured wax with each set being slightly different due to the unique colourings used. So, each set itself is unique.
Furthermore, Boulders 2 has been remastered - the original LP sounded pretty rough due to a recording error. The repress here has the volume level raised to improve reproduction.
Finally, the box includes a copy of volume eleven in the series, the first of the next generation of compilations in the series.
Volumes one to ten do not have sleeves - these were not repressed for the box. Volume eleven does.
I've listed this box as used but I believe that some of these albums will be mint, unplayed. I purchased the set second hand in 1991/92 and I don't recall ever playing it. The labels show no sign of spindle wear except: -
- Volume two, face A
- Volume four, face A
- Volume five, faces A & B
- Volume six, faces A & B
The labels mentioned above show just the very slightest of marks around the centre hole indicating that the LP concerned has been played once or twice at most. The vinyl looks to be perfect. The sleeve to volume eleven is perfect with the shrink wrap still in place, although this has been split to access the LP.
The vinyl is housed in a plain white box with a cover sheet glued on the front. The box is intact with very minor wear due primarily to the age of the set rather than rough use.
Finally, included in the set is a single sheet giving the details behind the release. This is signed (by the Moxie man??) and is hand numbered, 97. The serial number of 97/100 is also handwritten on the front of the box.
Each LP has around 14 tracks, I haven't listed the titles but if you're looking at this then you probably have a good idea of what is involved. I also haven't listed the wax colour as you can see this from the picture I've included. However, anymore details - get back to me.
I'll combine postage on multiple purchases.
