So, up for auction is an almost impossible to find original vinyl pressing of the Olympians’ self - titled one and only album that the Greek department of Philips released in early 1970 with Cat No 6331005 and Matrix Nos 6331 005 A [A side] and 6331 005 B [B side, both machine - stamped]. Housed into a no-spine, laminated front and no-laminated back single sleeve, it featured a great cover of Shocking Blue's Venus [To Koritsi Tou Mai = The Girl Of May in Greek language] plus another eleven trully original tracks - in Greek language too!!!Formed in Thessaloniki [Greece’s second largest city] the Olympians were not only the most popular garage band in Greece during the late 60s/early 70s but the local group that set the trend of singing pop songs in the Greek language! They released many successful singles but this self - titled album ONLY - for sure, one of the most sought after psych/freak beat/mod/shake gems of that era with a legendary status around the world - that, contrary to anyone’s expectations, sold poorly - thus its monster rarity!
IMPORTANT NOTICE : This very auctioned copy is the very 1st issue of the album with the band’s name on top and the song titles/credits below ONLY on the back cover - NOT the, after a while, 2nd issue with the band’s photos next to song titles/credits and liner notes!!!
IMPORTANT NOTICE 2 : I just informed from a local record collector that there is an EARLIER issue with the band’s name on top and the song titles/credits below ONLY on the back cover- i.e. exactly the same with this very auctioned item - EXCEPT the DIFFERENCE that the COLUMN-alike design on the left is NOT COLORED BUT IN BLACK & WHITE !!!!! I tried to find out a photo or something about it with no success but I feel obliged to add this information!!!!!

Grading:I use the GOLDMINE standards for grading STRICTLY & CONSERVATIVELY the condition of the items listed. The grading is mostly visual, though I d? “spot check” each of the songs play-graded on a Technics SL-1200MK2 with a, weight of 1.5 gram, Stanton 681 EEE MK III! songs.
